Academic Director Needed in Panyu, Guangzhou, China

SESP is looking for an energetic and hard-working manager to arrive in Panyu in October 2017. Shane English School Panyu has an intimate team who are all very dedicated to the development of the business. We are currently looking to expand in all departments and are looking for a Western Manager who enjoys a challenge and works well in a team.

Applicants should have the following qualifications and experience:

- Degree
- TEFL / CELTA / TESOL
- At least 4 years TEFL teaching experience
- Teacher training and course guide writing experience
- Teacher recruitment experience

- Open minded
- Well organised
- Hard working
- Good at communicating (with both foreign and local

Responsibilities of the role:

- Teacher recruitment and teacher training upon arrival.
- Teacher support both at work and on a more personal level, helping teachers to get settled and integrated.
- Cover teaching for teachers who are sick or on holiday and some teaching hours.
- Ongoing teacher training and class observations as well as ensuring all materials needed are available (book stock taking, flashcards and other materials needed.)
- Ensuring that courses are running as planned and students are achieving the language goals.
- Updating courses to ensure that the school stays ahead of its competitors and meets the needs of the local market.
- Staff discipline: making sure that all teachers are following the contract guidelines in regard to clothing and general behavior at the school.
- Regular meetings with the School Manager to ensure that all targets are being met and to plan future goals and strategies.

Package on offer:

Salary: 15,000 yuan per month
Bonuses: End of contract bonus: 7,000yuan
Health Insurance: Full health insurance
Holidays: 15 days paid holiday + all national holidays paid
Sick days: 5 paid sick days per year
 More than 5 days = unpaid
Visa: Sponsored z visa
 (Applicant pays costs upfront and after 6 months 50% is paid back and on completion of contract remaining 50%).

Local benefits:

Panyu is a suburb of Guangzhou. It is quieter, more peaceful and much cheaper than central Guangzhou but the city is very accessible by bus and metro. The local people of Panyu are very friendly and welcoming to foreigners and the local area has plenty of bars, clubs, parks, restaurants and shopping areas. As well as this Hong Kong is only 2-3 hours by bus, train or boat and is very easy to get to. This makes it ideal for day trips or short holidays.
