Academic Directors Required in China

Shane English Schools across China are looking for teachers wishing to take their careers to the next level by becoming academic directors:

The ideal applicant will be ready to:

• lead, manage and support a team of teachers
• support with teacher scheduling, including covering for teacher absences
• train new teachers in the Shane methodology
• be responsible for the quality of teaching through undertaking observations and providing follow-up training
• develop materials and course guides to support the delivery of courses
• undertake various administrative duties

The role will consist of a 35 hour working week. As it will be necessary to cover for teacher absences some flexibility will be required in this position.

Requirements

• Recognised University Degree (BA/BSc, BEd or higher)
• Accredited TEFL Certification (CELTA, TESOL etc)
• Sound knowledge of EFL teaching methodology and practice
• 2+ years of EFL teaching experience (ideally a variety of courses and levels)
• Excellent interpersonal, organisational and time management skills
• Leadership qualities
• Energy and enthusiasm / willingness to learn and flexibility to adapt
• Strong interest in developing your career, skills and future options
• Computer literacy in standard packages

• Ability to work in a multi-cultural environment

Preferable Requirements

• Previous supervisory/management/leadership experience
• Experience in training teachers
• Experience of quality improvement procedures in education - particularly observing teaching
