Are You Looking for the Best ESL Teaching Job in All of China?
I did what you're doing right now, scouring job boards for a job that I thought would provide me the most free time, best pay, and best atmosphere for a foreigner abroad in China. Unfortunately, it took me 2 years to find this school, but I couldn't be happier that I did.
Lovely English International is a private, family-owned, English language school in Haimen City which is a suburb of Shanghai (a 1.5 hour drive from Shanghai's city center). We currently only have one (1) campus, but hopefully that will grow to two in the near future. Our school is owned by a young, ambitious, Chinese couple that has lived abroad and knows how foreigners expect to be treated.
We have students between the ages of 3-12 and are expanding to educate middle school, high school, and adult students. Right now the majority of our classes take place on Saturday and Sunday, so aside from a few random classes during the week you can expect plenty of free time. We are also quite flexible with vacation/travel time. We are looking for energetic, experienced, passionate teachers who can join our team of Chinese and foreign teachers. Currently, we have 2 full-time and 2 part-time foreign teachers (I am a 28 year old American, originally from Wisconsin)
Requirements: Bachelors degree, ESL teaching experience, TOEFL preferred (but not required). Native English speakers only.
Job Description: 16-25 teaching hours, Little to NO office hours, and occasional additional activities. During the summer, classes are Mon-Fri and during the school year classes are Sat-Sun with a few possibly mid week.
Standard Chinese Holidays (Chinese New Year, Spring Festival, QingMing, May Day, Dragon Boat, Mid-Autumn, and National Day) will all be recognized and teachers will be permitted days off.
You will have a minimum of 2 days off per week, and days will be lumped together. However, I can tell you that, odds are, you'll have more than 2 days off. Curriculum will be provided and we will make sure you are properly trained and ready before teaching.
Monthly Salary: 7000-10000 RMB based on experience. Rent allowance or provided accommodation is included. Airfare reimbursement upon completion of a one year contract. Z Visa and foreign expert certificate available.
