Director of Studies Required in Shanghai

The ideal applicant will be ready to:
• lead, manage and support a team of teachers
• manage the academic needs of the business
• support Head Office in the recruitment of teachers
• train new teachers in the Shane methodology, and provide ongoing training to existing teachers
• support with teacher scheduling
• help schools to plan events
• develop materials and course guides to support the delivery of courses
• be responsible for the quality of teaching, undertaking observations and providing follow-up training
• have an involvement in the quality assurance process of franchise schools
• support new franchises in academic matters
• undertake various administrative duties

The role involves a 35 hour working week, allowing some flexibility in start and finish times.

Requirements
• recognised University Degree (BA/BSc, BEd or higher)
• Accredited TEFL Certification (CELTA, TESOL, PGCE, etc)
• Sound knowledge of EFL teaching methodology and practice
• 2+ years of EFL teaching experience (ideally a variety of courses and levels)
• Excellent interpersonal, organisational and time management skills
• Leadership qualities
• Energy and enthusiasm / willingness to learn and flexibility to adapt
• Strong interest in developing your career, skills and future options
• Computer literacy in standard packages

Preferable Requirements
• Previous supervisory/management/leadership experience
• Experience in training and recruiting (interviewing) teachers
• Experience of quality improvement procedures in education - particularly observing teaching
