Elementary Language Arts Opening
Shanghai Fushan Foreign Language Primary School is currently recruiting 2 professional primary school (Grade 1 to Grade 4) teaching staffs for February2013 to June2013; and/or next academic year (Sepetember.2013-August. 2014). The position will involve teaching both a language arts (K-12) curriculum and an inquiry-based science and social science curriculum.

Shanghai Fushan's offer to the K-12 teacher will include the following:
Fushan will sponsor the K-12 teacher’s work visa in China. Fushan will cover associated fees to obtain such visa.
Contract is for one year with about a month of paid summer vacation (August 2013). The teacher will enjoy the same benefits as other local teachers in terms of public holidays. Note: Christmas is not a public holiday in China but the school will allow the teacher to take two days off on 12/24 and 12/25.
Fushan offers a competitive salary for the duration of the contract plus medical insurance. The salary is paid on a monthly basis by the Fushan school.
Fushan will also offer free faculty apartment housing to the K-12 teacher and three meals a day free of charge during work days (Monday-Friday). If the K-12 teacher would rather rent his/her own apartment the school will provide a housing stipendium.
Fushan will purchase round trip airfare to the K-12 teacher between the U.S. departure city and Shanghai Pudong International Airport. Fushan will also provide airport pick up upon arrival and drop off upon departure to the U.S. Annual airfare to home of record is also provided.
Fushan will pay for one excursion to visit a city in the vicinity of Shanghai.
Fushan provides basic medical care for the Employees at a medical clinic on the School campus.
The school will provide group insurance, which includes Critical illness insurance, Conventional medical insurance, Accident insurance and Life insurance. OR The Employer will provide 1000RMB per month in contract period to support the Employees to purchase Medical insurance. The Employees will get this welfare only when he/ she provide the copy of the proper insurance contract to the Employer which must include Critical illness insurance, Conventional medical insurance, Accident insurance and Life insurance. The contract won’t be valid until the proper insurance has been purchased.
The monthly payment will be in 16000-22000CNY.
Teacher requirements and responsibilities are the following:
The native English-speaking teacher should be an experienced language arts teacher (minimum 2 years full-time teaching), ideally an elementary school teacher. The teacher must have U.S. teacher certification.
This teacher should be devoted to teaching and to the education of children.
The teacher will be a lead teacher of K-12 language arts courses in Fushan’s Grade 1, 2, or 3. He/she will instruct students and investigate effective ways of teaching. The objective is to use the K-12 language arts course as a tool to improve the English of young Chinese students to a level of proficiency comparable to that of their U.S. peers. The teacher should find the most effective way to achieve the best results. He/she will also work with and influence other local teachers and assistants under the guidance of Fushan's principal. This teacher may need to communicate to parents the progress of students on a regular basis.
The teacher will also be teaching a Theme of Inquiry (TOI) class, which is a combination of science and social sciences. The TOI classes are team taught in a dual language format, and there is an English-speaking Chinese teacher collaborating with the western teacher.
As Fushan’s programs expand, this teacher should assist in the instruction new classes.
Weekly work load is 40 hours per week, of which 20 hours (TOI is about 13.5 hours per week,K-12is about 6.5hours per week) may involve classroom instruction. Class size for K-12 courses will not exceed 15 students. Other classes (TOI) are capped at 36 students.
