English Literature Position

The Qingdao Daewon School (QDS) is seeking an English Literature Instructor to join our community of learners starting in the fall of 2017. The primary teaching assignment is to teach up to two hundred-minute blocks each day, leaving instructors responsible to around 25 students at any one time during the year. English Literature Instructor is expected to provide students a sense of cultural and global perspectives via inquiry-based learning. In the QDS, speaking persuasively, writing convincingly and thinking critically are emphasized throughout a student’s English learning career. In addition to teaching, an instructor would be expected to (1) collaborate in our periodic gathering of a level team and department meetings, and (2) participate in our students’ experiences outside the classroom by supporting either athletics or residential life and serving as a mentor to a small group of students.

Social Studies Position

The Qingdao Daewon School (QDS) is seeking a Social Studies Instructor to join our community of learners starting in the fall of 2017. The primary teaching assignment is to teach up to two hundred-minute blocks each day, leaving instructors responsible to around 25 students at any one time during the year. Social Studies Instructor is expected to use natural, social, political, economic, cultural, and technological markers of a society to provide students a sense of cultural and global perspectives via inquiry-based learning. In addition to teaching, an instructor would be expected to (1) collaborate in our periodic gathering of a level team and department meetings, and (2) participate in our students’ experiences outside the classroom by supporting either athletics or residential life and serving as a mentor to a small group of students.

Science Position

The Qingdao Daewon School (QDS) is seeking a Science Instructor to join our community of learners starting in the fall of 2017. The primary teaching assignment is to teach up to two hundred-minute blocks each day, leaving instructors responsible to around 25 students at any one time during the year. Science Instructor is expected to enhance problem-solving skills, provide practice in the scientific inquiry process and help students apply their learning to global issues. In addition to teaching, an instructor would be expected to (1) collaborate in our periodic gathering of a level team and department meetings, and (2) participate in our students’ experiences outside the classroom by supporting either athletics or residential life and serving as a mentor to a small group of students.

The Qingdao Daewon School (QDS) is a college preparatory boarding school which was found in a collaboration between Qingdao Jungyang School and Daewon Foreign Language High School (DFLHS) in Seoul, Korea. The QDS learning community may be small, but we have inherited the educational expertise of DFLHS. Our curriculum focuses on supporting students to become competent on a global scale by encouraging our learners to become proficient in three languages: English, Chinese, and Korean.

Student to Teacher Ratio: 5.5:1

Working Hours: 08:00 ~ 17:00

Teaching Schedule: One to Two hundred-minute blocks each day

• All classes are taught in English
• May choose to participate in our After School Program (Compensated Separately)

Salary and Benefits:

Salary: 160,000-250,000 RMB/year (Will be adjusted based on abilities, qualifications, and experiences.)

Housing: provided (dorm)

Flight:  9,000 RMB (at Max) Flight allowance, airport pickup service

Other benefits include: Work visa provided. Paid Winter and Summer breaks (7 weeks each)

Requirements – English Literature Position:

1. Bachelor’s degree or above
2. English related major or a certified teacher.
3. SAT English Language and Composition teaching experience required.
4. Must be able to legally work in China

Requirements –Social Studies Position:

1. Bachelor’s degree or above
2. Social Studies related major or a certified teacher.
3. Minimum 1 year of teaching experience preferred.
4. AP Economics and/or Psychology teaching experience highly preferred.
5. Must be able to legally work in China

Requirements – Science Position:

1. Bachelor’s degree or above.
2. Physics, Chemistry, or Biology major (certified teacher preferred)
3. Minimum 1 year of teaching experience preferred.
4. SAT and/or AP related subject teaching experience highly perferred.
5. Must be able to legally work in China
