English Teacher

Suzhou University of Science and Technology is looking to recruit an English teacher to take up teaching duties in mid-February.

The minimum requirements are for a native speaker, under 60 years of age, from the UK, Ireland, U.S., Canada, Australia or New Zealand, with a university degree (in any subject) and some teacher training (TEFL/CELTA or equivalent is a minimum). Candidates with less than two years teaching experience may be required by the Chinese Government to take a China TEFL course before a teaching certificate can be issued.

The basic monthly salary is between 4,500 and 5,500Yuan according to qualifications. There are additional monthly and annual allowances to cover travel and other expenses.

All teachers have their own self-contained, fully equipped 2-bed apartment. The university pays water and electricity charges.

Full medical insurance is provided through AIA. Costs for Residence Permits (visa), government issued Teaching Certificates (Foreign Expert Certificate) and the compulsory medical examination are met by the university.

We are a small team (4) teaching Freshman and Sophomore classes (18 to 20 year-olds) who are majoring in English, English Education or in Business English. The maximum teaching requirement is 16 hours per week, spread through Monday to Friday.
