English Teachers Needed
An Introduction to Web International English Qingdao Center
Web International English was established in 1998 with the aim of 'providing Chinese people with a better and more effective way of learning English.' To do this we created a unique 'Three-Stage Multi-Discipline Learning Method' and combined it with one of the world's most advanced courseware providers. Web was immediately successful and has gone on to establish nearly 70 centers across China, in such cities as: Shanghai, Guangzhou, Dalian, Chongqing, Hangzhou, Ningbo, Wuxi, Nanjing, Shenyang, Urumqi, Suzhou, Changzhou, Wenzhou, Xiamen, Qingdao, etc.
Today, Web has become one of the biggest international English training centers in China. Each year it helps nearly 50,000 people, including government officials, employees in international companies, and university students. We have a vast network of current and former students around the country all using the Web method to improve their English.
The key idea behind the entire Web system is our teaching of language as a skill. To do this Web uses world-class proven multimedia courseware and combines this with highly qualified foreign teachers to provide the students with a complete learning environment. The student has the best of both worlds with detailed computer work being complemented with a natural English environment, with teachers from a variety of English-speaking countries. Our centers are open from 9am to 9pm every day of the working week - and 9am to 7pm at the weekends - providing our students incredible flexibility and allowing them to set their own schedules for their English learning. At Web International we have a number of very structured learning programs which are tailored to help every kind of student. There are 8 levels in total: the two absolute beginner levels (Ice-Breaker & Threshold) to Beginner, Lower Intermediate, and Intermediate and - finally, of course - up to Advanced. Web also offers two Business English courses that are specifically designed for English in the workplace. These cover in great detail everything that a businessman or woman needs to know in today's global business world.Students are helped to find the right program for them by Web's course consultants, who are trained to place students in the appropriate level using a very advanced placement test and to provide continuing support for the students as they progress through the levels. The courseware content is based on sound, research-based principles. The focus is on the key concepts of language and the precisely structured approach offers a comprehensive system to help students make clear, identifiable, and rapid progress. Using state of the art video, speech recognition, and interactive courseware the different programs provide an excellent learning tool for students. The technology also allows Web to track each student's work exactly and monitor their progress. Highly trained tutors monitor the students' progress and make sure that their learning experience is smooth and beneficial. However, the Web International system is not just about the technology: we also have professional ESL teachers working with the students in both Private and Salon classes. We are committed to small class sizes to ensure that all students get the attention they need, so the maximum number of students in Private Classes is limited to 4. In the larger Salon classes - where the focus is more on group work and discussion - the maximum class size is 10.Private classes follow a detailed schedule and are designed to complement the work the students have done on the computer, enabling the student to master and make automatic all the English material they have learned. In addition, the teachers give out a variety of homework tasks which are both interesting and useful.
The Salon Classes are a slightly different experience, as they are less structured around the courseware and more open for conversation and discussion. Here the ESL Teacher can lead all sorts of group interactions on a number of topics or play some fun language games with the students.
Web International offers so much more, though, than simply computer self-study and classes. The Web student can also enjoy a wide range of extra activities, such as English Corners, Movie Classes, and Extra Curricular trips. These are events where the students can mingle with the foreign teachers (who come from a number of different countries) and practice English in a totally natural, real-life way. In this way not only do the students' language skills improve but their knowledge of the various cultures represented by the ESL teachers is enhanced.Web International prepares its students for successful real-life interactions with the English-speaking world.
