English Teaching in Fuzhou

Our Vision

York English was started in 2003 with the aim of doing ESL differently than other schools in China. Here at York, the quality of the education we provide matters. We aim to provide students with creative, engaging, and educational lessons that will allow them to develop their language skills in a safe and supportive environment.

Teaching

Our commitment to education extends into high-level of support we provide for our teachers and staff. From a supportive community to welcome new teachers, to comprehensive initial training and on-going professional development, we are here to make sure that our teachers have the resources, training, and support to succeed in the classroom.

The School

This formula has worked really well. The school now has 6 branches, 3000 students and over 60 foreign teachers. And we’re still growing!

Life in Fuzhou

Fuzhou is the capital of Fujian province on the East coast of China, just across the water from Taiwan. It’s a coastal city with great transport links via train and plane to Shanghai, Xiamen and Shenzhen. The city itself has a great mix of ‘real China’ and western home comforts so it’s an exciting place to live.

Our offer

Sounds good? York offers a package which includes:

• A first year salary of 7000 RMB – 9000 RMB per month for new teachers and 8,000 RMB – 10,000 RMB per month for experienced teachers
• Free shared accommodation or a housing allowance of 1500 RMB per month
• Flight reimbursement of 8,000 RMB
• A total of roughly six weeks paid holiday including all Chinese public holidays, Christmas, an end of summer break, and two weeks private leave
• A working visa
• Free Chinese Lessons
• Our students are aged 4-16 years old and class sizes are limited to a maximum of 16
• We teach an average of 15-18 teaching hours a week, leaving you lots of free time to enjoy your hobbies
• Opportunities for advancement as our school grows

What we’re looking for

Our teachers must:

• Hold a bachelor’s degree or higher
• Have a TEFL / TESOL / or CELTA certificate
• Be from a native English speaking country (Australia, Canada, UK, New Zealand, or America)
• Be energetic and engaging in the classroom
• Be passionate about teaching English in China
• Experience teaching children or ESL is a plus
