The Job
We are now holding interviews for English teachers at our university based in the city of Tianjin in the east coast of China. If you are a dynamic teacher, have an interest in teaching smart, motivated young adults and can deliver learner centered, communicative lessons then we are interested in speaking with you.
Our university is modern with up to date teaching materials and equipment including projectors and computers. Various student interactions are encouraged in class such as group work, pair work, role plays, project work as well as more traditional teaching methods to add variety to the classes and help create a fun and relaxed learning environment.
All new teachers will receive training on arrival and will be introduced to the school and teaching methods.
Teaching Materials
Teaching materials and resources are provided by the school and are targeted to the abilities of the students. Materials follow the Chinese national school curriculum and focus on developing all four skills " speaking, listening, reading and writing. Teachers are encouraged to adapt and supplement the materials where need be to ensure classes are engaging and interesting.
Tianjin " The city
Tianjin is located 85 miles east of Beijing, near the coast. The capital can be reached in half an hour by fast train. As China’s third largest city with a population of over 10 million people, Tianjin has a rich history and has witnessed many important events since it was given its name in 1404. Evidence of its history is still visible in the old British and Italian concessions, the port and European architectures.
The best known scenic spots and historical sites include the Panshan Scenery Area, the Park on the Water, the Garden of Tranquility, the Palace of Heavenly Empress and even a section of the Great Wall of China at the Huangya Pass.
Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree
• TEFL certificate
• Teaching experience preferred
• Native English speaker from UK, USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand or South Africa
• Professional, culturally aware, positive work ethic
Main Responsibilities
• Maximum 25 hours teaching per week
• Classes from Monday " Friday with Saturday and Sunday as days off
• Provide high quality professional teaching at all times
• Provide advice and assistance to student, in and out of classroom
• Deliver learner-centered, engaging lessons to all students
• Complete all administrative tasks in a timely manner
• Prepare new materials as requested
• Actively participate in professional development workshops and activities
• Attend school activities, parties and other events
• Open-minded and easy-going with a great team spirit
Compensation
• Excellent salary: 7,000 RMB per month
• Flight allowance: 5,000 " 8,000 RMB paid at end of 12 month contract
• Free housing provided by the school or a 1,500 RMB monthly housing allowance
• 90 days school holiday per year (2 months in summer and 1 month in winter, unpaid, with option of paid work)
• Plus 12 days paid Chinese National Holidays
• Accident insurance provided by most schools
• Legal ‘Z’ work visa provided by the university
• Training course provided on arrival
• Weekly Mandarin Chinese lessons provided free
