We are looking for an enthusiastic teacher who enjoys playing with children. The foreign teacher will create a fun and educational atmosphere for students to learn in. Additionally, they will work hand-in-hand with a Chinese teaching assistant to ensure that the students both enjoy the class and achieve their learning objectives. Class sizes are limited to 12 students per class to allow for a more personal relationship between teacher and student. Full-time and Part-time positions are available.

This means that our students learn English that is useful in everyday life, not just for tests. For example, we place a large amount of emphasis on the English subtleties such as pronouns, tenses, and common dialogs. Most Chinese children's English education companies don't care about the usefulness of their English, rather focusing on sales and marketing. At WalaWala, you are not a marketing tool; you are a teacher who is helping Children learn English that they will use in the real world.

Further, the western environment extends back to the teacher's work environment. We understand that foreigners have a very different management culture than what is used in most Chinese English schools. This means that we use common western management practices such as planning, proper communication channels, and time efficiency. At WalaWala, we won't waste your time because we failed to adequately plan and prepare. We respect the time of foreign teachers, and understand that they have a life outside of work. This means that you get your schedule in advance, and teaching hours are concurrent.

Lastly, we strive to provide a high value service to our customers. For this reason we limit the class size to 12 students and provide a teacher assistant who is responsible for managing the class and managing communication with the parents. This provides an excellent system for both the teacher and the parents to monitor the progress of the student and provide a highly conductive teaching environment.

We are located at the southern end of the Gaoxin district in Xi'an. If you're not familiar with Xi'an, the following provides a brief introduction to this historic city:

The city of Xi'an is located in central China and has a history that dates back over 3,000 years. Xi'an was the seat of power for many ancient Chinese emperors and served as the capital of China during five of the most important dynasties, over a period of more than a thousand years. Ancient Xi'an was famous for being the terminus of the Silk Road and a major trade hub connecting China, Europe, and the Middle East. Xi'an is known for its many historical sites, the most famous being the Mausoleum of China's first emperor, Qin Shi Huang, and his Terracotta Warriors.

Modern day Xi'an is a growing metropolis with a unique feel and a vibrant nightlife. While the increasing availability of western products, food, and companies is a testament to Xian's recent development, the cities location away from the hustle and bustle of China's coastal region inspires a more laid back feeling and it is clearly a city that values its unique place in China's history. Living in Xi'an is an up close look at a city that strives to balance its rapid growth and development while maintaining its rich historical and cultural identity.

Qualifications and hiring criteria:

1. Active, energetic, friendly, easy-going people who like working with children

2. Native English speaker from New Zealand, Canada, USA, UK or Australia.

3. Bachelor's Degree

4. One year commitment

5. Experience is preferred, however not necessary.

Compensation:

1. Monthly salary (not hourly pay). Exact salary depends on qualifications and experience.

2. Furnished apartment or housing compensation

3. Overtime pay rate of 150RMB per hour

4. Contract completion bonus
