Private Institutes in Seoul/Daegu (June/Aug) + Public schools for fall: Busan (June/July spots too!), Jeollanamdo, Gyeonggi, Gyeongnam
Greetings Teachers,
Canadian Connection (http://www.canconx.com) is an educational consulting agency based out of Toronto which recruits teachers for ESL positions in public schools, private institutes, and companies. We are currently looking for teachers for our private institutes in Seoul and Daegu for June and August. We are also started interviewing for our 2012 fall semester positions with options in public schools around the country. Our public school positions are directly with the schools and school boards so you will know your location before departure.
NOTE for couple applicants: If you are applying as a couple, please be aware that we have filled our placements that have shared apartments and for all of our positions listed below you would have separate housing although we would be able to place you in the same town or city.

Summer & Fall Private Institute Positions
Schedule: Monday to Friday
Classroom Hours: 30 teaching hours per week.
Vacation: 10 days + national holidays
Salary: 2,000,000 – 2,300,000 Korean won per month
Severance Bonus: 1 month salary
School Type: kindergarten and elementary students
Housing: non-shared housing supplied, schools pay rent, teachers cover util.
Airfare: One way ticket airfare is reimbursed after arrival and one way ticket home is given before the end of the contract
Start dates:
late June (Seoul)
August (Seoul and Daegu)
November (Seoul)
Contract Length: 1 year with option to renew
Locations: Seoul and Daegu
Single placements only, no couples
FALL PUBLIC SCHOOLS
(Note: Some school boards such as Busan, Gyeonggi and Gyeongnam will also have positions in June and July)
1)Busan Metropolitan Office of Education (Public Schools)
Busan is a metropolitan city of 4,000,000 people, situated on the southeast coast.
Schedule: Monday to Friday, 9:00 to 5:00
Classroom Hours: 22 teaching hours per week, overtime a possibility
School Levels: Elementary Schools (up to grade 6 but typically only working with grade 3-6), Middle Schools (grade 7-9) and High School (grades 10-12). The majority of positions are in Elementary and Middle School
Vacation: 18 working days + national holidays
Salary: 1,800,000 – 2,300,000 Korean won per month
Settlement Allowance: 300,000 Won
Severance Bonus: 1 month salary
Housing: non-shared housing supplied, schools pay rent, teachers cover util.
Airfare: Entrance allowance of 1,300,000 Korean Won provided after 6 months is completed and 1,300,000 Exit Allowance given before departure
Start dates:
June 26th – 14 month contract from June 26th, 2012 – August 25th 2013
July 26th – 13 month contract from July 26th, 2012 – August 25th, 2013
August 26th - 12 month contract from August 26th, 2012 – August 25th 2013
Orientation: 3 day orientation after arrival

Preferences: Candidates with CELTA, Teaching licenses, or having significant ESL experience preferred
2) Jeollanamdo Provincial Office of Education (Public Schools)
Jeollanamdo province is in the southwest area of the country and includes smaller rural towns and cities up to 300,000 in population
Schedule: Monday to Friday, 9:00 to 5:00
Classroom Hours: 22 teaching hours per week, overtime a possibility
School Levels: Elementary Schools (up to grade 6 but typically only working with grade 3-6), Middle Schools (grade 7-9) and High School (grades 10-12). The majority of positions are in Elementary and Middle School
Vacation: 4 weeks + national holidays
Salary: 2,000,000 – 2,500,000 Korean won per month + bonuses for rural placements and travel schools
Settlement Allowance: 300,000 Won
Severance Bonus: 1 month salary
School Type: Elementary, Junior High, and High School
Housing: non-shared housing supplied, schools pay rent, teachers cover util.
Airfare: Entrance allowance of 1,300,000 Korean Won when you arrive in Korea to cover your airfare and an Exit Allowance of 1,300,000 Korean Won to cover your airfare before you leave Korea at the end of your contract.
Start dates: August 14th with a one week orientation in Gwangju
Contract Length: 1 year with option to renew at a higher salary
Locations: various towns throughout the province
(note - only small town placements remain)
Locations: Jindo, Wando, Haenam, Gangjin, Yeongwang, Yeongam, Muan, Jangheung, Boseong, Gurye, Gokseong, Hwasun, Hampyeong, Goheung
3) Gyeongnam Provincial Office of Education (Public Schools)
Gyeongnam province is in the south east area of the country with a long coastline and a population of just over 3,200,000. This province has a mix of rural and city locations.
Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:30-4:30 or 9:00 to 5:00
Classroom Hours: 22 teaching hours per week, overtime a possibility
School Levels: Elementary Schools (up to grade 6 but typically only working with grade 3-6), Middle Schools (grade 7-9) and High School (grades 10-12). The majority of positions are in Elementary and Middle School
Vacation: 18 working days + national holidays
Salary: 2,100,000 – 2,500,000 Korean won per month + bonuses for rural placements and travel schools

4) Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education (Public Schools)
Gyeonggi Province is located in the north west region of South Korea and surrounds Seoul. It’s the most densely populated province, with a population of over 11,000,000. We have a mix of locations around Gyeonggi from rural towns to large metropolitan cities, most of which border Seoul.
Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:30 to 4:30 / 9:00 to 5:00
Classroom Hours: 22 teaching hours per week, overtime a possibility
School Levels: Elementary Schools (up to grade 6 but typically only working with grade 3-6), Middle Schools (grade 7-9) and High School (grades 10-12).
