ESL Teacher Trainers Needed in Myanmar (burma)


GBP £20k (USD$32k) + accommodation, flights, medical, visa, end of contract bonus

We have a number of opportunities in Burma and require CELTA / Trinity TESOL qualified ESL Teachers to plan and deliver quality English language teaching and teacher development courses for Burmese primary secondary and tertiary teacher educators working in Burmese Education Colleges in order to develop their English language proficiency and teaching knowledge and skills.

Trainers will be based in Education Colleges and Institutes of Education across Burma, to be considered you will have an undergraduate degree and be qualified to a Cambridge CELTA/Trinity CertTESOL plus 4 years teaching/training experience. Applicants who also hold a PGCE qualification are particularly welcome. You should also have a high proficiency in English at IELTS 8.5 or above if English is not your first language.

Package:

A monthly salary of £1,667.00 will be split with £1,167.00 paid locally in Myanmar Kyat (MMK) at the relevant monthly rate and a GBP portion of £500 paid into a UK account.

Upon successfully completing the full contract until September 2016 and subject to satisfactory performance, you shall be entitled to a one-time gratuity payment equivalent to 2 months (£3333) of your salary.

Free return flights if stationed outside of Burma

If you are stationed outside of Burma prior to commencement of this appointment, you shall be entitled to accountable baggage allowance of up to £1200 at the beginning and upon successful completion of your contract

40 days fixed leave

BUPA Medical insurance

A single payment of £833 for newly recruited trainers not currently resident in Burma will be provided to assist in settling in. You will also receive up to two weeks’ accommodation upon arrival.

Free accommodation

Return economy class flight to Thailand or equivalent location is provided once every year

Cost of living in Burma:

This depends on the lifestyle you choose to live but you should be able to save a good proportion of your salary and afford international holidays.

A typical cost break down of day to day expenses; UHT Milk - $1.80, local beer - $2 a bottle, Burmese restaurant - $2-5 for chicken and potatoes, Kilo of Chicken fillet - $5, haircut - $3-30, taxis - $2/3 around town, Cigarettes – $2, local fruit and vegetables - $1-3 per kilo, 3-in-1 coffee at a street stall – 50c
