KOC UNIVERSITY ENGLISH LANGUAGE CENTER for KIDS:

At Koç University – Istanbul- Turkiye, we have been organizing English Summer/Winter Camps for the last 3 years.

We have been working with many prestigious universities in the USA and UK.

American & British students and graduates have been showing great interest in our program.

In this programme we offer excellent teaching opportunities & experience for potential English teachers.

Our mentors have a chance to mix business with experience & pleasure at ELC for Kids.

We are looking for MENTORS & TEFL/CELTA TEACHERS for the below programmes this summer.

We also would like mentors with interest and experience in:

• Swimming

• Photography

• Stage performance

• Sociology

• Psychology

• Orff

We will be hosting our mentors and teachers in our dormitories, looking after them and paying them salary, provided that they attend 3 full terms.

We have announced two programmes :

PROGRAMME 1: ELC Day Camp

Students (Open to All Native Speakers regardless of their major)

A three weekly programme between 08:30 – 16:00 daily, targeting children aged between 4- 11.

Participating MENTOR (Students/ Graduates) will be expected to assist students at all times and teach conversational skills for 1 hour every weekday.

During the day each mentor will assist 3 children in classes of 15 students from the same age group for language practice.

Many activity classes will be tutored by experts on their subjects and your students will only be asked to participate with their team.

PROGRAMME 2: BOARDING(INTENSIVE) PROGRAMME

(OPEN TO : ENGLISH TEACHERS- ENGLISH MAJOR STUDENTS – TEFL/CELTA CERTIFICATE HOLDERS)

This rewarding and enjoyable boarding summer camp programme aims to improve the English skills of students aged between 9 - 13 providing communicative, student centered English for students seeking to study with the native speaking tutors.

To live and learn with the native speakers, accommodation is provided for Koc University Intensive students during the summer school period.

Koc University dormitories are conveniently located in our main campus.

There are shared rooms available(2-3-4 sharing), and all dormitories have internet access available to students.

The aim of our programme is to develop the students' abilitiy to think, read, write, listen, and communicate effectively in English.

Applying TEACHERS- ENGLISH MAJOR STUDENTS – TEFL teachers will be asked to attend/ plan and conduct the lessons and spend the day with the children.

Applying TEACHERS- ENGLISH MAJOR STUDENTS – TEFL teachers will be asked to stage a play or a show of their choice with children at the end of each 3 week term.

Koç University Intensive ELC for Kids targets to equip students with the critical skills needed to function successfully in an English-speaking environment,

Intensive ELC for Kids English Boarding Summer School Program is made up of two modules.

1st Module:

20 English teaching hours per week , enabling students plenty of time to practive their english with skillled instructors and use their English skills in real life situations outside of the classroom.

2nd Module:

10 hours of extra curricular activities such as swimming, cooking, camping, lego robotics & golf classes.

Students will be using Koç University Rumellifeneri Campus facilities.

•please find the terms listed below, as mentors will be asked to attend all 3 terms. But if they need to attend classes at an earlier date prior to the end of the program, we can still consider accepting depending on the interviews.

Application Requirements:

• must be at least 18 and have completed a minimum of one year of college.

• must be available to work all 3 terms.

• will be required to submit a video interview after viewing their initial application and if we wish to proceed further.

• Will work between 8.30 am to 16.00 pm during Monday to Saturday.

• Will be required to eat lunch with children

• must be available to stay until midnight on one Friday each term for the camping activity.

"Our program aims to improve 4-13 year old children's English comprehension, listening and speaking skills, as well as their ability to effectively use resources, engage in problemsolving, and undertake other cognitive tasks, through a variety of workshops. A native English speaking guide will accompany every 2 students. Every 15 students will be working under the supervision of a group leader who has an educational background in either psychology or teaching. The workshops will be given by professionals and will be in English. The students will be accompanied by their guides during all the workshops, and they will have the opportunity to practice English during daily activities."

This is a day camp during Monday to Friday, you won't be expected to work on Sundays unless it is the opening day of the term.

You will be one of our guides who will accompany the participating children

You are expected to:

• accompany assigned campers all day long and during lunch

• encourage them to speak English and help them to practice and improve their English

• ensure the safety of the campers you are assingned to

• help the campers during the workshops, breaks, lunch, snack time, pool time (i.e. getting dressed, drying hair, and etc.)

• keep an eye on the assigned campers at all times.
