The Job

Wonder English is now hiring qualified English teachers who are dynamic, open-minded, patient and passionate in teaching. Teach and inspire our young learner and adult students and give them a chance to learn more about western culture inside and outside the classroom. Our school employs a close-knit team of 5 foreign teachers and 5 local teachers with close to 300 students.

Our curriculum and textbooks are all American with up to date teaching technology to assist you in creating a fun learning environment for your students. We aim to provide a western standard of education using Learning A-Z book, foreign materials and carefully picked topics to expand the students’ perspective and introduce them to a bigger world outside of China.

It is our goal to enhance our students’ fluency in English speaking and develop their self-confidence to speak in public or simply keep up in a conversation with a foreigner. We encourage our teachers to allow students to have group discussions about their own culture and let the teachers carefully integrate the western culture in their learning. A local foreign teacher is also available to provide assistance inside the classroom.

Guiyang – The City

Guiyang is the capital of Guizhou Province, located in the southwest of China, on the eastern side of the Yunnan-Guizhou Plateau. Guiyang is famous for its colorful culture represented by diverse ethnic groups. Mountains and plateaus make up about 65% of Guizhou’s topography. The terrain is surrounded with underground rivers, jagged peaks, dramatic valleys, and beautiful terraced rice fields. Guizhou has spectacular waterfalls, national forests, and breath-taking scenery. The city’s primary tourist attractions are Qianlinghsna Mountain, Lake Qianling, the Huaxi scenic area, the Huangguoshu falls, and the Dragon Palace.

After 6:30pm every night, the street stands will begin filling the streets with amazing aroma and mouthwatering snacks. Guiyang people prefer spicy food, so hot pepper is indispensable to Guiyang dishes. The Vinegar Bar is one of Guiyang’s special nightlife destinations. As the name suggests, the Vinegar Bar offers vinegar drinks, usually with a fruity flavor or with special material like the sticky rice and pearl powder.

< br>Main Responsibilities

-Maximum of 25 hours teaching per week

-5 admin hours a week

-Weekend classes with two days off during the week

-Teach kids or adults

-Introduce and contextualize western cultures and festivals to the students

-Organize and attend social events for some important Chinese festivals, like Children’s Day

-Lesson planning

-Grade students’ homework and quizzes

-Attend weekly or monthly school meetings

-Attend annual field trips organized by the school

-Assist in marketing and promotion for new students

Compensation

-Excell ent salary: 6,500 RMB per month

Requirements

-Bachel or’s degree

-Native English speaker from UK, USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand or South Africa

-One year teaching experience

-English language fluency
