High School English Teacher -- British a-level Centre (shanghai)

International Education Centre (Shanghai Foreign Language School) is looking for an experienced English teacher for high-school age students. Our school is located on the dynamic campus of Shanghai International Studies University (SISU). The position is available starting from September 1st, 2012.

Our students plan to apply to universities in English-speaking western countries. They learn in an intensive environment that combines small class sizes with highly focused training in British-style education during a 2-3 year program. Each year of study is centered on obtaining a formal exam qualification in British IGCSE and A-Level courses.

The English department aims to assist each student in obtaining a passing grade in IGCSE English as a Second Language, and to develop fluency to enhance performance in A-Level subjects. Students receive additional training in support of their college applications, including IELTS exam preparation and academic English.

Requirements for the position:

• Native English speaker with extensive experience teaching in an ESL environment.

• ESL teaching qualification (CELTA), and at least a Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant subject. A formal teaching certification/state license from the UK or USA highly preferred.

• Familiarity with British educational environment and formal exam qualifications, IGCSE and A-Level studies, and international exam board standards for CIE and/or Edexcel.

• Experience with IELTS/SAT preparation, and assisting students with college application process.

• Full-time position/at least 1-year contract.
