US College Consultant Position in Shanghai- 2018

Location: 
Full-time (40 hours a week - 5 days including on weekend day)in Shanghai 
Start Date: Spring 2018 (Negotiable) 
About the Role:

● Serve as an experienced expert in writing to assist in offline writing help 
● Serve as a knowledgeable counselor for a given number of Chinese high school students who are interested in studying in the United States for undergraduate college & university studies

Principal Responsibilities:

Before August of the year - 
● Provide writing help: customize and select online writing courses for each individual student and assist offline writing help based on the writing courses 
● Writing course development in different levels, middle school level through high school levels with 3 types of writings: creative writing, essay writing and academic writing

Between August and December of the year - 
● Provide guidance to high school students on proper strategies for the college application process 
● Advise students on their college essay topics 
● Guide students through the college essay writing process and provide insight on editing and proofreading where necessary 
● Advise students with college interviews 
● Advise prospective boarding school students with interview and essay guidance

Requires (Functional/Technical Skills & Knowledge):

● Strong interpersonal and communication skills 
● Willingness to communicate with students both during normal working and non-working hours (College application seasons) 
● Strong writing skills in creative writing, essay writing and academic writing 
● Firm understanding of the US college application process

Required / Recommended Background & Experience:

● Minimum Bachelor's degree in the US 
● Preferred majors in Creative Writing, English Literature or related majors 
● 1-2 years of college essays consulting and editing experience (preferred) 
● Previous experience with ESL and/or high school students (preferred) 
● Graduates from Top US colleges/universities (preferred not required)

Bilingual and International Baccalaureate Full-time Teachers Fall 2018

Location: Xuhui and Jingan district in Shanghai, China

Start Date: Fall 2018 (August/September)

About the Role:

● Manage, create, and deliver lessons for primary, middle or high school students based on given and/or collaborative-based materials 
● Perform the duties of a full-time ESL, Bilingual or IB instructor, including but not limited to maintaining office hours, group planning, curriculum management, and parent meetings

Requires (Functional/Technical Skills & Knowledge):

● Ability to establish effective working relationships with staff, students, and parents 
● Ability to communicate both orally and written while taking into account ESL community members 
● Skilled in working with a range of students of different abilities and backgrounds 
● Skilled in (or willing to learn) inquiry-based learning and differentiation 
● A sound understanding of contemporary teaching and learning theories and practices in English as a Second Language teaching

Required / Recommended Background & Experience:

● Minimum Bachelors degree in relevant majors 
● Minimum 1-2 years of teaching experience 
● Previous experience teaching the IB curriculum is strongly preferred 
● Previous experience with ESL students is preferred 
● Valid teaching certification / license (preferred) and/or TESOL/TEFL/CELTA (120-hour) certificate
