We would like the new instructor to be ready to teach as soon as we process your visa. Other positions will be opening up later in the year and we may be able to hire up to five instructors for the Nagoya and Tokyo area. (The immediate position includes a great schedule and few classes. It's a new school and students are still enrolling so the teacher will not be overwhelmed in the slightest.)

Competitive salary:
Instructors are guaranteed from 230,000 to 280,000+yen per month (depending on qualifications and experience), working a max of 28 contact hours. Instructors are able to qualify for overtime pay. Guaranteed salary is based on genuine ESL experience and qualifications. You will be given a salary quote if contacted after applying. (For example, CELTA holders with no experience are usually quoted at 250,000, CELTA and MA are quoted around 260,000+, etc) After Skype interviews, negotiations are possible. Most teachers can save at least 100,000 yen per month.

Working hours:
Instructors who have fulfilled their weekly contact hour load are only required to be in the schools for their classes. Instructors who are under the contact hours that make up their guaranteed salary will be required to work non-contact hours. (More information provided.) Every instructor has a unique schedule. Even busy teachers however, have time in the day to pursue other interests as long as they don’t require leaving the city. Some days are busier than others. Most classes are in nice blocks and since we are new, the teacher will not feel overwhelmed. As of now, there are no kids classes at LA Mode. This location may be best suited for adults but we are still trying to get kids to join.

Holiday:
Instructors are off on Monday and Sunday. As of now, the last class on Saturday finishes at 7:00pm. We are also closed on all national holidays. Instructors also have paid vacation during the summer O-bon for a week, and winter for a week. All national holidays are paid off. Also there are five days of paid holiday. Non-paid leave is available after completing six months of the first year contract and after helping us secure substitute teachers.

Classes:
Schedules include a wide mix, from babies to retired folks. The right applicant should be: personable, friendly, cheerful (even when having a bad day), responsible, patient, professional, dependable and kind. Negativism and pessimism are highly frowned upon. We are interested in teaching, first and foremost. We want to provide our students with the best possible teacher, lessons, and service. We hope to see results with all students. Teachers are expected to use the "Mode Talk" method for kids and adults. Most classes are small with five students max. Training is provided and an experienced LA Mode teacher will have the confidence and ability to teach anywhere in the world.

Work environment:
Most classes are taught at LA MODE schools in Nagoya, conveniently located near Nagoya Station in the city. LA Mode teachers are sometimes sent to other sister schools on the Higashiyama subway line, all minutes away from stations. Sometimes teachers are sent to a student’s house or to another place of business. All the schools are located in affluent neighborhoods with good air quality and many parks. Keep in mind that this is a great job in a large city! Teaching jobs that are in the country are not as coveted because you can get extremely lonely. Nagoya is not as large and hectic as Tokyo or Osaka but has everything they do, just not as expensive. There is a vibrant expat community here in Nagoya with numerous parties and events. There really never is a dull moment.

Housing:
Single furnished apartment with a bed! 55,000yen per month, 10 minutes away on foot from the main school. Great neighborhood with many shops, grocery stores and restaurants all in walking distance. No key money, no deposit! According to the current resident, "It's a great location and a great deal for being located in such a convenient place and in the middle of everything." You will never need to pay for a taxi after missing the subway, you can just walk home.

Health Insurance:
National Health Insurance offers full coverage and is less than $20.00 US dollars a month for the first year!

Staff:
