Lead Teacher Position

Muffy’s Kindergarten is a foreign owned and managed international kindergarten established in 2003. With 3 locations in Beijing we take pride in our strong reputation for providing a caring, quality environment for English immersion education. We currently have over 350 students ranging from 2 to 7 years old and over 35 foreign teachers who work with Chinese Teaching Assistants.

As we continue to expand we are looking for a motivated, experienced, and passionate Lead Teacher to join our team of foreign teaching staff. Muffy’s Teaching Philosophy:

Muffy’s Kindergarten blends the best of Chinese and Western educational theory to create a tailor-made learning environment that maximizes each child’s unique abilities and talents. Our students are encouraged to explore, experiment and express themselves through a curriculum based on Multiple Intelligence research, supported by Montessori and Reggio learning practices in a whole day English immersion setting. We aim to increase our student’s passion for learning, while building a foundation of competences to prepare them for lifetime of learning in both China and abroad.

Job Summary:

The Lead Teacher:

• Manages, supports, and evaluates the professional development of other teachers

• Is responsible for developing and implementing an ongoing program of activities that promote the social, emotional, cognitive and physical development of each child

• Monitors the execution of Muffy’s curricula standards and class quality as part of creating a professional and caring teaching environment

• Serves as a liaison between teachers, school administrators, and sometimes parents

• Coordinates with teachers and site managers on matters of budgeting, purchasing, and site operations

• Instructs a class that serves as a lab for utilizing best teaching practices

Qualifications:

• Degrees/Certifications: BA degree minimum, Early Childhood or Primary School teaching certificate

• Experience: Over 5 years related working experience in a teaching field (including management experience)

• Level of English: Native English speaker required from North America, UK, Ireland, Australia or New Zealand

Details:

Contract Start Date: mid-February 2014, or August 2014

Contract: 40 hours/week

Location: Beijing

Contract Duration: 2 years

Compensation: 18,000 to 22,000 RMB/month, net of taxes, salary commensurate with experience.
