the following passage is written by one of our foreign teachers who had finished one-year teaching here, please have a look at it.
Chuzhou Foreign Language School in Chuzhou needs a foreign teacher for their new school year, beginning September, 2013. Ideal age would be around 30 and they can handle your visa details, no problems, so I am recommending them highly.
This city is small compared to most cities in China, but offers a lot for you. The people are friendly and welcome you with open arms.
I was teaching here recently, on a full time contract and enjoyed this city and its people. My assistants were very helpful in my daily needs and the boss speaks English, so all are very easy to communicate with. I am leaving to fulfil another position in China, of which I had already signed a contract before Chuzhou.
Chuzhou is only 20 minutes from Nanjing, Jiangsu Province, so it’s easy to pop over to and fulfil all your needs as in shopping and entertainment for a change, also within reach of Shanghai for a weekend get-away.
The students are typical Middle school students, full of energy, life and a will to learn. Of course you will find some who misbehave in class, but that’s normal and can be dealt with easily. The main thing is the school backs you in any problems with them. I taught grade 7 and 8 and found their level of English very good for their age.
Life is very easy, relaxed and quiet, with good accommodation, also not far from the school, only a 5 minute walk.
There are three main supermarkets in town, of which will suit you. Lotte Mart has fantastic bread, just like back home and it keeps fresh until the last bite. It is quite a big supermarket and carries a lot of goodies for all.
Since being here, I have managed to visit a couple of Chinese Tea Houses and they are fantastic, so you should aim to try these out, just ask Sam where they are and he’ll either take or direct you and don’t forget to try the Lamb dish, I really recommend it. The settings are fantastic in these establishments, very comfortable and there is also a great eating house across the road from Times, which also has an English menu.
Also, not far from the school is a great hotel and within walking distance, called Huijia Business Hotel, complete with a great coffee shop on the 1st floor.
Accommodation: This consisted of two bedrooms, kitchen with a gas cooker, connected to mains, bathroom with solar hot water, two balconies overlooking the estate. Equipment in the apartment consists of a T.V., washing machine, lounge chairs, bedding, air conditioning, and some crockery/cutlery and a great fridge, plus some cleaning equipment.
I have purchased a few things to make life easier here and again will leave these for the new comer to enjoy, but they will belong to the school, so please take care of them.
