ONE Native English-Speaking Teacher Needed URGENTLY for a Government School Position in Dongying, Shandong Province

Our school, Golden Bridge Training Center (GBTC) of Shengli Oilfield, has close connections with the local Education Department. We provide oral English teachers to various primary and middle schools in the Dongying and Yellow River mouth region. Dongying is a modern city located close to the famous Yellow River mouth; traditional villages also surround the city. It is only 5 hours by bus or a quick 45 minute flight to Beijing; we also have daily flights to Shanghai, Dalian, Chongqing and Haikou with new destinations being added all the time.

With a history of over 10 years, GBTC has previously employed a number of foreign teachers, many of whom have stayed multiple years, including myself (I am currently serving my 4th year in Dongying with GBTC). We focus on providing interesting and enjoyable classes to young learners between the ages of 6 and 16 years.

A recent applicant was unfortunately forced to give up a primary school position with us for family reasons, so we are now looking for a new teacher to join our team of 11 foreign teachers, starting on September 1st. The school is located in Dongying City itself and a very nice apartment is provided for free to the new teacher. The primary school itself is also known as one of the nicest in the city with great kids and staff, and it is only 5 minutes walk from the teacher's apartment.

Ideally you will have teaching experience in China, another foreign country or even in your own country. A degree in any discipline is required, TESOL or equivalent certification is desirable and previous teaching experience is also welcome. An ability to plan and deliver classes which encourage student participation is essential. For teachers who have limited experience we will provide ongoing training to assist with your own growth as a teacher. A Chinese assistant is also provided for each class.

The hours for this position are Monday to Friday with 4 classes per day spread between morning and afternoon. Each class is 40 minutes long. Overtime and extra classes are also sometimes available if you want them. The salary range is 6500-8000 Yuan per month (for 20 classes - no office hours) which is negotiable depending on your experience and qualifications. The cost of living in Dongying is very low, and many of our teachers are able to save a good portion of their salary each month.

The school also provides a free private apartment, utilities, computer with internet, a free Chinese class every week for those who would like to study and a dedicated foreign teacher to assist you when first settling in and also during your stay in Dongying. Medical and accident insurance is provided for all our teachers. We will also enjoy regular outings to show you around the local area. Our teachers also receive a long 4-5 week winter break plus other standard Chinese public holidays, so there is plenty of time to travel. An airfare allowance (8000 Yuan) is paid at the end of a 1 year contract.

The situation is urgent because we now have limited time to process the Z visa documentation in time for the beginning of September, so we are hoping to fill the position within the next week.
