Location: Hangzhou, China
Job Description:
You will be expected to be the lead teacher of your class. A Chinese teacher will work alongside you to ensure that the class runs smoothly. Through creative classroom activities, educational games, and your English abilities, you will teach Chinese children English in such a way that they will truly experience the American education system in their early years. You will need to prepare lessons and submit related documents as required. (Details will be explained during staff training). As a foreign teacher, you will be a representative of America in China, and will act as a cultural ambassador to your students and fellow teachers. You will spend 37 hours per week teaching children between the ages of 3-15. You will have two days off each week, which will usually be weekdays. You will also take an additional 3-5 hours of Chinese language and culture classes per week.
Qualifications:
· Native English speaker (Passport issued by an English-speaking country)
· No criminal record
· Must be physically and mentally healthy (nonsmokers preferred)
· Bachelor’s degree, preferably education related
· Must be able to sign a one year contract
· Resume and cover letter needed
Preferential Qualification (Not Necessary):
· Have 1+ years of teaching experience with children between the ages of 3-15
· TEFL certificate is preferred (CELTA or equivalent certifications are also acceptable)
· One recommendation letter from former employers or professors
Other Qualifications:
· Advanced organizational and planning skills
· Advanced English skills – both written and verbal
· Strong communication and interpersonal skills
· Motivated to inspire and stimulate learning for children in the classroom.
· Must be flexible and adaptable to meet the needs of supervisors
· Have an understanding of and desire to work abroad and live in a different culture
· Ability to work patiently with people who will be working in a second language
· Competency in computer use – Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
Responsibilities:
· Teach lessons in accordance with the themes and objectives of the curriculum and teaching plan
· Submit teaching plan of each lesson every week
· Teach lessons to at least 5 classes of students per week
· Teach lessons to at least 2 demo classes per week
· Work with Chinese co-teachers to evaluate students’ performance during demo classes
· Conduct classes with energy and enthusiasm, using a range of techniques such as story-telling, singing, dialogue, role-playing, and craft work in combination with formal exercises
· Plan and coordinate lessons effectively with Chinese co-teachers for classes of 8-12 students per class
· Work with Chinese co-teachers to evaluate students’ performance and help Chinese co-teachers conduct phone learning reviews and video learning reviews (a review procedure to follow up with the students after lessons) with children.
· Participate in special event activities such as sporting activities, holiday celebrations, outdoor promotion etc.
· Keep up to date with developments in subject areas, teaching resources and methods, and additionally make relevant changes to instructional plans and activities
· Work cooperatively and effectively as a team member with Chinese and English staff
· Report regularly to your designated mentor
· Submit weekly work report

Requirements:
1. Native English speaker
