Primary and Secondary Teachers Needed From Abroad to Teach in Thailand
At this time we are seeking applicants who are CURRENTLY TEACHING in regular primary/secondary schools OUTSIDE of Thailand ONLY to teach at our school's NEW EP campus starting on 22nd March, 2012.
Assumption College Bangkok is one of Thailand’s most exclusive private schools. The ‘English Program’ (EP) is the school’s immersion program. It commenced in 2002 and during the last ten years has operated within the grounds of the primary and secondary school campuses.
The Assumption College Rama 2 Campus will officially open in March 2012. The new campus will be the home of Assumption College Bangkok’s English Program (EP) and the school's world class sporting and recreational facilities.
The new campus is located approximately 30 kilometres from the Primary and Secondary School campuses on Rama 2 Road, south-west of the city centre.
In its initial year Assumption College Rama 2 English Program will accept students in Year 1, Year 4, Year 7 and Year 10 only. By 2014 the school will accept students in Years 1-12 and reach its student population capacity of 1,800 students (150 students/Year).
When the English Program moves to the Rama 2 campus, the existing Primary and Secondary School EP’s will merge and become one school. This will mean that during the next few years, the Assumption College English Program will further develop its identity and reputation in Thailand for being one of the most outstanding schools of its type.
Very basically, EP students at the Rama 2 campus will be both Thai boys and girls who learn English, Mathematics, Science, Physical Education/Health and Computers with qualified, English speaking teachers.
Further details about the teaching positions at the new Rama 2 campus are below:
1) This is our first round of recruitment for the 2012 school year.
2) At this time we are seeking applicants who are CURRENTLY TEACHING in regular primary/secondary schools in Australia, USA, Canada, UK and New Zealand ONLY.
3) We we are seeking local applicants at this time. We will accept applications from local applicants in January, 2012.
4) All EP teachers MUST be qualified with a Bachelor Degree major in Education OR a post graduate teaching certificate (Dip. Ed or PGCE equivalent).
5) Year 1 teachers will teach English, Mathematics, Science, and Health to their own ‘Homeroom’ class only. They are responsible for the welfare of the students in their class as teachers are in Western Countries.
6) Year 4 teachers will specialise in teaching either English, Mathematics, Science and/or Health and teach more than one class. These teachers are also responsible for the welfare of their ‘Homeroom’ class as teachers are in Western Countries. SOME SECONDARY TRAINED TEACHERS TEACH VERY EFFECTIVELY IN THESE YEARS AND ARE WELCOME TO APPLY FOR THE POSITIONS.
7) Year 7 and 10 teachers:
- Will teach their subject of specialisation as secondary teachers are required to do in Western Countries.
- Year 7 and 10 Science teachers must be qualified to teach upper secondary Chemistry, Physics and/or Biology.
- These teachers will also have their own Homeroom class.
- SECONDARY TEACHER APPLICANTS WILL BE CONTACTED IN EARLY JANUARY, 2012.
8) All teachers teach for approximately 18 hours per week.
9) Class sizes are 22 students for Year 1 and 25 students for older Years. There will be 150 students in each Year level.
10) Successful applicants will receive a remuneration package that includes salary, living allowance, health insurance and approximately nine weeks paid holiday.
11) All appointments are for a period of one year beginning on 22nd March, 2012.
