Primary School English Teacher - Hangzhou / Suzhou, Chin

Job Details

Teacher Responsibilities:

- Teaching English to Chinese students from 3 to 12 years old. 12 children per class with a Chinese speaking assistant teacher.

- 22 Teaching hours per week plus 15 hours office work (including feedback on students' homework, preparation of lesson plans and curriculum development).

- From Monday to Friday, the first class begins at 4:10 pm, and the last class ends at about 8:40 pm. Each class lasts 1 hour with a 10 minute break in the middle. Foreign teachers are required to arrive in school at 3:00 pm to prepare for their lessons. On Saturday and Sunday, we have classes throughout the day. The first class begin at 8:30 am, and the last class ends at 8:40/9:00 pm.

- Classes employ many learning games and songs. In addition to teaching, the school organizes various other activities such as summer / winter vacation classes where students attend the school during the holidays to learn art, cooking and sports skills in an English-speaking environment. The school also hosts parties on and around occasions such as Halloween, Thanksgiving, Harvest Festival, Christmas, New Year and Valentine’s Day.

Requirements:

- Excellent communication skills, patient and passionate in teaching, with the ability to listen to and engage with the students.

- Basic IT skills: Microsoft Office software.

- Experience in teaching preferred, but not essential.

- Bachelor’s Degree - Relevant qualifications such as TEFL, TESOL, CETAL, PGCE are preferred, but not essential.

Mandatory Requirements:

For Hangzhou Position 

- Bachelor’s Degree in English or Education

- Full DBS check

For Suzhou Position

- Bachelor’s Degree in any subject

- Two years Teaching Experience with Approved Referrals OR Qualifications in Education or English, i.e.: TEFL (120 hours or above), TESOL, CELTA etc

- Full DBS check.
