Primary School ESL Teacher, Monday-friday, 8am-4pm, Shanghai

We are currently looking to recruit a replacement teacher for grades 3, 4 and 5 English, as well as grades 4 and 5 Drama. We teach ESL learners using native speaker literacy books. This entails targeting all of the key skills, whilst also teaching key literacy skills that would be taught in mainstream schools in England and America.

You will work in a small team in which all teachers work collaboratively, and in which teachers work in pairs to create and adapt resources for shared grades. The successful applicant will shadow cover teachers for a week and contribute to resources before taking over the classes.

The ideal applicant will be fun, friendly, willing to learn from others, and willing to share their own strengths and knowledge with the team. They will also have excellent interpersonal skills and be able to build a good rapport with students, their parents, and co-workers.

Job Description:

- Teach English to classes of around 20 students. Maximum of twenty five 35minute classes per week.

- All classes scheduled Monday-Friday 8:00 am – 4:00 pm.

-Be in attendance during office hours (M-F, 8am-4pm)

- English curriculum in place, although teachers must create and adapt PPT’s, worksheets, and other resources.

- Teachers are encouraged to be creative and supplement lessons with other activities

-Create your own drama curriculum, plans, and resources. (support given)

-Work collaboratively with other team members, sharing and adapting materials to suit students’ needs and target their levels.

- join in with teambuilding activities and professional development activities and meetings.

- Contribute to course resources and development.

-Join in with school activities and events .

- Opportunities, if desired—to participate in extra-curricular activities.

Qualifications:

- Hold a TEFL certificate or CELTA

- Hold a university bachelor degree

- Be a native speaker of English

- Minimum 2 years teaching experience

- Have a reasonable level of comfort with technology and software: Microsoft PowerPoint, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Publisher, and preferably some experience with Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft Access

Compensation:

- Contract runs until June 30th for this school year, position starting as soon as possible.

- 12,000 RMB –14000 gross per calendar month (based on experience)

- 10,000 RMB end-of-contract bonus (related to completion of contract and performance).

- Travel allowance 8,000 RMB per year, ½ paid upon completion of 1st semester in full, ½ upon completion of contract.

- Paid accidental insurance.

- Paid winter vacation between semesters (4 weeks paid holiday, ideal to visit the country)
