Public schools in Jeollanamdo (APRIL 17th) Ulsan (MAY), Private Institute in Seoul (May & July) and fall public schools in EPIK, Busan, Ulsan, Jeollanamdo, Jeollabukdo

Greetings Teachers,

Canadian Connection ( http://www.canconx.com ) is an educational consulting agency based out of Toronto which recruits teachers for ESL positions in public schools, private institutes, and companies. We are currently interviewing for some remaining public school positions in Jeollanamdo for April and Ulsan for May + private institutes in Seoul for late May and July, plus all of our fall public school positions.

APRIL and MAY public schools (Teachers applying for these positions should have documentation in hand)

1) Jeollanamdo Provincial Office of Education (Public Schools)

Jeollanamdo province is in the southwest area of the country and includes smaller rural towns and cities up to 300,000 in population

Schedule: Monday to Friday, 9:00 to 5:00

Classroom Hours: 22 teaching hours per week, overtime a possibility

School Levels: Elementary Schools (up to grade 6 but typically only working with grade 3-6), Middle Schools (grade 7-9) and High School (grades 10-12). The majority of positions are in Elementary and Middle School

Vacation: 4 weeks + national holidays

Salary: 2,000,000 – 2,500,000 Korean won per month + bonuses for rural placements and travel schools

Settlement Allowance: 300,000 Won

Severance Bonus: 1 month salary

School Type: Elementary, Junior High, and High School

Housing: non-shared housing supplied, schools pay rent, teachers cover util.

Airfare: Entrance allowance of 1,300,000 Korean Won when you arrive in Korea to cover your airfare and an Exit Allowance of 1,300,000 Korean Won to cover your airfare before you leave Korea at the end of your contract.

Start dates: April 17th with a one week orientation in Gwangju

Contract Length: 1 year with option to renew at a higher salary

Locations: various cities and towns throughout the province

2) Ulsan Metropolitan Board of Education (Public Schools)

Ulsan is a metropolitan city with a population of just over 1,100,000 people. It’s right on the east coast, just north of Pusan and is on major transportation routes – bus and train. Ulsan has been recently been designated the “richest city in Korea” – ahead of Seoul!

Schedule: Monday to Friday, 9:00 to 5:00

Classroom Hours: 22 teaching hours per week, overtime a possibility

School Levels: Elementary Schools (up to grade 6 but typically only working with grade 3-6), Middle Schools (grade 7-9) and High School (grades 10-12). The majority of positions are in Elementary and Middle School

Vacation: 18 working days + national holidays

Salary: 1,900,000 – 2,400,000 Korean won per month

Settlement Allowance: 300,000 Won

Severance Bonus: 1 month salary

Start dates: May 2nd (elementary) and May 13th (High School)

Contract Length: 1 year with option to renew

Locations: Various locations throughout the city. Placements are decided by Ulsan supervisors

Private Institutes in Seoul (May and July)

Schedule: Monday to Friday

Classroom Hours: 30 teaching hours per week.

Vacation: 10 days + national holidays

Salary: 2,000,000 – 2,300,000 Korean won per month

Severance Bonus: 1 month salary

School Type: various levels of students

Housing: non-shared housing supplied, schools pay rent, teachers cover util.

Airfare: One way ticket airfare is reimbursed after arrival and one way ticket home is given before the end of the contract

Start dates: February 24th (Seoul) March 1st (Daegu)

Contract Length: 1 year with option to renew

Locations: Seoul - 2nd interview with schools via skype is required. Teachers applying for these positions should have documents in hand

1) English Program in Korea EPIK(Public Schools all around Korea)

EPIK is a department within the Korean Ministry of Education that is in charge of hiring Native English teachers for the majority of school boards throughout Korea. Due the fact that they have so many positions to fill, EPIK designates certain recruitment agencies to assist with hiring and Canadian Connection is one of the designated agencies

Schedule: Monday to Friday, 9:00 to 5:00

Locations: Various placements throughout the country including the locations listed below. Specific placements are decided by EPIK supervisors just before or during orientation so we specific location requests aren’t guaranteed but you will be able to indicate a preference in the application process.

City Placements: Seoul, Busan, Daejeon, Daegu, Ulsan, Incheon, Gwangju, Sejong

Provincial Placements: Gyeonggi, Gangwon, North Chungcheong, South Chungcheong, North Gyeongsang, South Gyeongsang, North Jeolla, South Jeolla, Jeju

2nd interview with EPIK coordinators via skype is required

2)Busan Metropolitan Office of Education (Public Schools)

Busan is a metropolitan city of 4,000,000 people, situated on the southeast coast.

Schedule: Monday to Friday, 9:00 to 5:00

Classroom Hours: 22 teaching hours per week, overtime a possibility

School Levels: Elementary Schools (up to grade 6 but typically only working with grade 3-6), Middle Schools (grade 7-9) and High School (grades 10-12). The majority of positions are in Elementary and Middle School

Vacation: 18 working days + national holidays

Salary: 1,800,000 – 2,300,000 Korean won per month

Settlement Allowance: 300,000 Won

Severance Bonus: 1 month salary

Housing: non-shared housing supplied, schools pay rent, teachers cover util.

Airfare: Entrance allowance of 1,300,000 Korean Won provided after 6 months is completed and 1,300,000 Exit Allowance given before departure

Requirements: Minimum of 2.7 GPA (67.5%) and a strong preference for English/Education majors and/or CELTA certificates

Start dates: August with a one week orientation

2nd interview with Busan supervisors via skype is required

3) Jeollanamdo Provincial Office of Education (Public Schools)

Jeollanamdo province is in the southwest area of the country and includes smaller rural towns and cities up to 300,000 in population

Schedule: Monday to Friday, 9:00 to 5:00

Placements: We make placements after receiving the school list from the supervisors

City Placements: Mokpo, Yeosu, Suncheon, Gwangyang, and Naju

County Placements: Jindo, Wando, Haenam, Gangjin, Yeongwang, Yeongam, Muan, Jangheung, Boseong, Gurye, Gokseong, Hwasun, Hampyeong, Goheung

4) Jeollabukdo Provincial Office of Education (Public Schools)

Jeollabukdo province is in the southwest area of the country as well and includes smaller rural towns and cities up to 600,000 in population

Schedule: Monday to Friday, 9:00 to 5:00

Classroom Hours: 22 teaching hours per week, overtime a possibility

School Levels: Elementary Schools (up to grade 6 but typically only working with grade 3-6), Middle Schools (grade 7-9) and High School (grades 10-12). The majority of positions are in Elementary and Middle School

Vacation: 18 working days + national holidays

Salary: 2,100,000 – 2,500,000 Korean won per month + bonuses for rural placements and travel schools

Settlement Allowance: 300,000 Won

Severance Bonus: 1 month salary

School Type: Elementary, Junior High, and High School

Housing: non-shared housing supplied, schools pay rent, teachers cover util.

Airfare: Entrance allowance of 1,300,000 Korean Won when you arrive in Korea to cover your airfare and an Exit Allowance of 1,300,000 Korean Won to cover your airfare before you leave Korea at the end of your contract.

6)Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education (Public Schools)

Gyeonggi Province is located in the north west region of South Korea and surrounds Seoul. It’s the most densely populated province, with a population of over 11,000,000. We have a mix of locations around Gyeonggi from rural towns to large metropolitan cities, most of which border Seoul.

Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:30 to 4:30 / 9:00 to 5:00

Classroom Hours: 22 teaching hours per week, overtime a possibility

School Levels: Elementary Schools (up to grade 6 but typically only working with grade 3-6), Middle Schools (grade 7-9) and High School (grades 10-12).

Vacation: 4 weeks + national holidays

Salary: 2,000,000 – 2,300,000 Korean won per month + bonuses for rural placements

Settlement Allowance: 300,000 Won

Locations: We are contacted by schools directly so we’ll be able to discuss specific schools and locations with you but we might not have schools in all locations. 2nd interview with schools via skype is required

City Placements: Suwon, Seongnam, Goyang, Bucheon, Yongin, Ansan, Anyang, Namyangju, Uijeongbu, Pyeongtaek, Siheung, Hwaseong, Gwangmyeong, Paju, Gunpo, Gwangju, Gimpo, Icheon, Guri, Yangju, Anseong, Pocheon, Osan, Hanam,Uiwang, Gwacheon

County Placements: Yeoju, Dongducheon, Yangpyeong, Gapyeong, Yeoncheon
