We are looking to employ 2-4 new foreign teaching staff at GEM International Preschool available before September, ready for the start of the new school year. The school - based in the city of Deyang, Sichuan Province, China - has been open for nearly two years, and we have already surpassed our initial student registration goals. In the next 2 years it is expected that we will be competing to be one of the best kindergartens in China, so the people we are looking for must be passionate about education and have a true desire to see their students succeed. You will be joining a team of five Western teaching staff and 40 Chinese teaching staff.

The school focuses on using tThe school has recently made great commitment to adopting the Reggio Emilia approach – having already built ties with the Reggio Children, and making considerable financial investment in building the teachers understanding on how to utilise the approach effectively. The Reggio Emilia approach focuses on using the children's interests as a way to provoke thought, and encourage a student-led learning environment. It has a strong emphasis on “the image of the child”, as well as the 100 languages that children have at their disposal to express themselves.

The jobs we are currently looking to fill are:

Core Teacher
As a core teacher, you will be responsible for a single class in our international department, providing a positive learning environment for the children, and organising learning activities. You will also be responsible for the children's safety and well-being, communicating with parents, designing the classroom environment, filling relevant paperwork to document children's development and managing your two teaching assistants. The international classes are full English immersion, and so no Chinese language skills are required. You will report directly to the American Vice Principal.

ESL Teacher
As an ESL teacher, you will visit classes in our bilingual department, delivering lessons to children aged 0 – 6. You will have no more than 15 hours face-to-face teaching time per week (although you may be encouraged to spend time engaging with children during outdoor playtime, and during free exploration in the classroom). You will report directly to the American Vice Principal.

The CORE TEACHER job will offer the following:
• 12,300 RMB (per month)
• A fully furnished apartment (up to 1,500 RMB per month)
• Visa costs paid for
• Yearly bonus of 18,000 RMB (paid after contract completion)
• A personal assistant to overcome any barriers created by language in day to day life
• An English speaking work environment

We require for the CORE TEACHER role:
• A minimum of a bachelor’s degree, in an education related subjected (preferably Early Years Education)
• At least 5 years of experience teaching children in the 2 -6 year old age group
• Previous experience teaching in an international school is preferred
• Passionate about childhood education, a desire to help your students to develop and grow, the determination to provide endless opportunities for them to express themselves, and a willingness to do your best to better their future
• Native English speaker from Australia, America, Canada, the UK or New Zealand

The ESL TEACHER job will offer the following:
• 10,000 RMB (per month)
• A fully furnished apartment (up to 1,500 RMB per month)
• Visa costs paid for
• Yearly bonus of 10,000 RMB (paid after contract completion)
• A personal assistant to overcome any barriers created by language in day to day life
• An English speaking work environment

We require for the ESL TEACHER role:
• MUST have a bachelor’s degree (preferably in an Education/Language related subject, but not required)
• At least 1 year of experience working with similar age groups.
• Experience teaching children with English as their second language
• A TEFL certificate is preferred but not required
• Warm and friendly attitude towards young children and a desire to help them develop and grow
• Native English speaker from Australia, America, Canada, the UK or New Zealand
