Rural Island Public School Positions in Jeollanamdo (shinan Islands)

Greetings Teachers,

Canadian Connection (http://www.canconx.com) is an educational consulting agency based out of Toronto which recruits teachers for ESL positions in public schools, private institutes, and companies. We are currently looking for 2 teachers up for a rural and cultural experience in spots we have on two different islands in Shinan county, located in Jeollanamdo. This position offers good pay, vacation, and the chance to really engage with Korean culture. We need teachers that are independent, outgoing, and don't mind being isolated. You'll have small classes, a fairly relaxed schedule, and get to make a difference in the lives of students that won't otherwise get to study with a foreign teacher. You'll be joining a group of around 70 teachers for orientation as well so you'll have that network of foreign teachers all around the province.

Jeollanamdo Provincial Office of Education (Public Schools)

We have 2 positions on rural islands off the west coast of the province so we need teachers up for this kind of rural experience as you will be the only foreign teacher on the island: http://eng.shinan.go.kr/

Schedule: Monday to Friday, 9:00 to 5:00

Classroom Hours: 22 teaching hours per week, overtime a possibility

School Levels: Elementary Schools (up to grade 6 but typically only working with grade 3-6), Middle Schools (grade 7-9) and High School (grades 10-12). The majority of positions are in Elementary and Middle School

Vacation: 4 weeks + national holidays

Salary: 2,200,000 – 2,700,000 Korean won per month

Settlement Allowance: 300,000 Won

Severance Bonus: 1 month salary

School Type: Elementary, Junior High, and High School

Housing: non-shared housing supplied, schools pay rent, teachers cover util.

Airfare: Entrance allowance of 1,300,000 Korean Won when you arrive in Korea to cover your airfare and an Exit Allowance of 1,300,000 Korean Won to cover your airfare before you leave Korea at the end of your contract.

Start dates: August 14th with a one week orientation in Gwangju

Contract Length: 1 year with option to renew at a higher salary

Locations:

Imja Island (1 position)

Shineui Island (1 position)
