Overview of the School
HFI (Huafu International), or The International Department of the Affiliated High School of South China Normal University, was founded in 2004, and currently offers IFY (International Foundation Year) and AP (Advanced Placement) programs.

Our AP program is an American-style, three-year high school program comprised mostly of courses delivered in English (of which most, but not all, are AP courses). The AP program in our school is quite selective¡ªduring the past few years we have only accepted around 10% of all student applicants. A majority of students in our AP program get offer letters from top-30 American universities (and also from top universities in the UK, Australia, Canada, HK and more). Summary of Position
This position starts in early August 2017. Teaching hours will be a maximum of 20 hours per week. The teacher will teach four sections of EAP to highly motivated 10th grade Chinese students. The course focuses on academic reading, writing, listening and speaking skills. The purpose of this course is to equip our highly motivated students with the academic English skills necessary to tackle the AP courses that they will take in their 11th and 12th grade years (ranging from AP English Language and Composition to AP Biology to AP Art History, etc.).

Major assessments for the course are already planned. This person would work closely with the Head of the English Department to ensure course quality and alignment with other English courses. No extracurricular duties are required (although there is room for this if the teacher has a desire). There are about two hours of meetings on average every week.

The contract is for two years initially, but is renewable.

Salary and benefits
We offer a very competitive salary, which is based on the candidate¡¯s experience and qualifications. The starting salary is 280,000 RMB (around 41,000 USD) gross, with an approximate tax rate of 16%. (The USD figure is for comparison only; salary is paid in RMB.) We also offer housing allowance, annual economy round-trip air fare, excess baggage allowance, paid holidays, health insurance, and a yearly professional development stipend. Highly qualified candidates will meet the following criteria.
1. Academic qualification¡ªminimum bachelor¡¯s degree, master¡¯s degree preferred
2. A recognised teaching qualification. For EAP teachers, a Diploma or equivalent in ELT is preferred (EAP Teachers with a recognised ELT certificate will be considered providing they have relevant experience).
3. Relevant teaching experience (normally a minimum of two years)--This experience should relate to the delivery of a Western-style syllabus using Western conventions and methodologies.
4. The ability to contribute to integrated teaching across the curriculum.
5. An understanding of western higher education and the needs and requirements of international students.
6. Direct experience of further and higher education in an international context.
7. Specific experience of education in China (Desirable).
8. Experience of the development of academic programmes (Desirable).
9. Experience of academic assessment and standards and of quality assurance procedures.
10. Experience of teaching non-native speakers of English (Desirable).
11. An understanding and appreciation of private sector education (Desirable).
12. Experience of living and working in China (Desirable).
