Seeking More ESL Teachers in Beijing, China

The BISS Teacher Training Institute (formerly Chaoyang English Project) is a collaboration between Beijing BISS International School and the Chaoyang District Education Committee. It aims to improve students’ communication ability in English and develop local teachers’ English language skills, teaching methodology & pedagogy. The institute has a high profile as one of two main projects for the District Education Committee.

Due to continuing demand from our government partners, we are seeking more ESL teachers to join the institute. This is an exciting opportunity for experienced EFL teachers to contribute directly to the development of education in Chaoyang District, Beijing. Ongoing professional development, through regular training sessions and a cycle of observation and feedback, will be provided to the teachers, as well as a competitive salary package.

Teaching Duties may include:
• Co-plan & prepare resources based on the local English textbooks
• Team teach English lessons with local partner
• Keep up to date planning & reflection notes
• Assist with special performances or festivals
• Participate in related research; provide feedback; conduct tests & surveys

Salary & Conditions:
• Competitive salary commensurate with qualifications & experience

• Work hours approximately 8am-4pm, timetable approximately 25 x 45minute periods per week (including between 3-6 co-planning periods for team teachers)

Teacher Qualifications & Requirements:
1. Native or bilingual proficiency in English
2. Foreign passport holder, with extensive experience living in an English-speaking community
3. Bachelor Degree or above, plus 2+ years’ post-degree school teaching or ESL/EFL/TEFL/TESOL/CELTA teaching experience
4. ESL/EFL/TEFL/TESOL/CELTA/DELTA or recognized (general) teaching certification
5. English teaching/training experience in China/Asia (preferred)
6. A passion for contributing and making a difference through education
7. Attributes such as patience, teamwork & collaboration, strong communication & presentation skills and a positive attitude.

Trainer Duties may include:
• Supervision cycle: planning support, observation and feedback for teachers
• Regular training sessions for groups of foreign and local teachers working in primary and middle schools
• Reporting and reflection: weekly updates and summary reporting
• Development and review of training and assessment materials
• Assessment and reporting of student progress

• Monday - Friday week, office hours

Trainer Qualifications & Requirements:
1. Native or bilingual proficiency in English
2. Foreign passport holder, with extensive experience living in an English-speaking community
3. Bachelor Degree or above
4. Cambridge DELTA or equivalent ELT qualification
5. Must have a minimum of 5 years’ post-degree teaching experience (English teaching/training experience in China/Asia preferred)
6. Related experience or background in primary or middle schools is desirable
7. A passion for contributing and making a difference through education
8. Attributes such as patience, teamwork & collaboration, strong communication & presentation skills and a positive attitude.
