Ardmore Language Schools are experts in providing educational travel courses to students from all over the world. With over 25 years of experience, we are dedicated to delivering the highest quality courses including language, cultural and specialist sports programs in our residential centers.
The Welfare Leader's (WL) key responsibility is the overall welfare of the students to ensure they are safe, secure, happy and respect other students, staff and the facilities. The WL will work alongside the Head of Pastoral Care (HPC) and the Center Director (CD) in this role. The WL will be required to assist other staff in night duties normally ranging from 10.00 p.m. to 1.00 a.m. for four nights a week (but subject to change due to operational purposes).
Please note this is a residential and seasonal position only. We require our staff to live on campus throughout the summer. We are hiring for this position in the following locations: New York area, Boston, San Francisco bay area, Los Angeles and New Haven.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
* To help set up the centre prior to student arrival and assist with accommodation planning
* To carry out pre-arrival and departure checks and damage surveys as delegated by the HPC
* To provide pastoral care for every student particularly individual students by ensuring students are adjusting to cultural differences and that their religious and dietary needs are met and respected
* To provide a Leader figure for all individual students helping them to integrate with other students and encouraging them in all activities
* To assist the HPC with the overall welfare and care of the students, meeting students daily and helping with any personal problems or concerns
* To ensure all students attend the set activities and attendance records are accurate
* To play a pivotal role in guiding and organizing students on excursions
* To carry out residential duties on a rota basis including meal supervision, lights out duties, night-time patrols, room checks and additional duties as required
* To carry out a night duty on a rota basis (4 nights per week) and supervise other staff on duty making sure that all buildings are locked and secure
* To ensure students are in their rooms with lights out by 11.30 p.m.
* To help the HPC with student behavior within the residences and liaise with the management team to report all damage incidences and serious incidences
* To provide integration support for students travelling as Individuals
* To ensure that all fire and safety procedures are displayed and adhered to
* To assist with the provision of orientation meetings for new students, showing them to their accommodation and issuing Ardmore Language School (ALS) Student ID cards prior to excursions as delegated by the HPC
* To ensure room lists are accurate and regular fire drills undertaken as delegated by the HPC
* To help ensure that Ardmore Language School's Health & Safety policies are implemented and adhered to at all times

QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE
* Previous summer school experience, ideally in a residential position
* Excellent organizational and time management skills
* Excellent communication skills and excellent level of fluency in English
* Ability to think on feet and adapt quickly to change
* Ability to motivate and enjoy working with large groups of children / teenagers
* Enthusiasm and team player
* Eligibility to live and work in the U.S.
