Balboa-New Horizons is a well-established group of western owned and managed international education centers in Shanghai and has an excellent reputation for teaching language arts, test preparation, and college counseling. All of our students come from the best international and bilingual schools in Shanghai. Our teaching methods go beyond what students are already learning in international school classrooms and is geared towards enhancing student’s ability through a holistic approach that combines curriculum from the American Common Core, IB, and Cambridge education systems.

Our immediate open positions:

1. One experienced primary years language arts teacher to teach courses to our: Foundations (Grades 1-2); Young Starters (Grade 3); and Early Years (Grades 4-5) classes. Prospective teachers should have at least 2 years’ experience teaching language arts or English literature and have experience creating new and imaginative courses for young learners.

2. One experienced secondary language arts teacher to teach courses to our: 
Middle Years (Grades 6-7); Upper Years (Grades 8-9); Pre-IB; Pre-AP; and AP courses. Prospective teachers should have at least 2 years’ experience teaching language arts or English literature to middle school and high school students and have experience creating new and imaginative courses.

3. One experienced test prep teacher to teach a variety of test preparation courses including: ACT, SAT, SSAT, SCAT, and TOEFL Junior. Prospective test prep teachers should have at least 2 years’ experience teaching test preparation courses including both English-based and math-based sections and be willing to learn how teach a variety of test preparation courses.

Preferred start date for new teachers is June 1st, 2019

Requirements & Qualifications: 
• Bachelor’s degree required. Master’s degree preferred 
• History of working at bilingual or international schools preferred

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities 
• Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills 
• Proven ability to be an effective team member, as well as the ability to work independently 
• Demonstrated commitment to and experience working with diverse populations 
• Relevant subject matter knowledge 
• Effective classroom management skills 
• Passion and knowledge for global education

Requirement for working visa. 
• Native English speaker and a citizen of one of the following countries: 
Canada, U.S.A., UK, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, or South Africa 
• At least 2 years teaching experience 
• 120-hour TEFL certificate

Salary & Compensation: 
• Basic Salary: 22,000 - 24,000 RMB per month 
• Performance bonus every term (3 terms per year) 
• End of contract performance bonus
