The Job

We are looking for a fulltime ESL teacher on a one year contract. It would be a maximum 24 teaching hours a week and we do not enforce crazy office hours, just a few hours of lesson planning as well as meetings and training mean you would rarely work much more than 30-35 hours a week. Like all ESL private training schools in China, the classes would mostly be on weekends with days off either Monday & Tuesday or Thursday & Friday. Most classes would be teaching 5-15 year olds in fairly small class sizes with some adults and exam preparation classes.

The Teacher 

While teaching experience is preferred, we would also hire someone who has recently completed their TEFL, TESOL or CELTA course so long as they show a professional and positive attitude. I am not of the belief that 10 years of teaching experience guarantees quality. However, due to laws in China, our teachers must have a bachelor degree and two years work experience in any industry.

The Package

7000RMB  per month for 0-1 years teaching experience

8000RMB per month for more than 1 years teaching experience

10,000RMB for more than 2 years IELTS fulltime teaching experience

12,000RMB for former IELTS examiners.

plus airfare, shared accommodation and visa. While it might seem low compared to other cities, in Beijing or Shanghai you might be paying 3-5K a month in rent and spending twice as much. Most schools in larger cities do not provide rent unless they are well outside the city centre. 7500 in Weihai is the equivalent of 12-14 thousand in a larger city. You should be able to save at least half your salary every month.
