The Job

We are holding interviews for English Language Instructors at our centers across China. If you are a dynamic teacher, have an interest in teaching adults and can deliver learner centered, communicative lessons then we are interested in speaking with you.

Our schools offer true language instruction innovator, founded in 1878 and now with a global presence in over 550 centers in 70 countries, employing over 8,700 professional instructors. The first center in China was opened in the year 2000 and we are now located in the major cities of Shanghai, Beijing, Hong Kong, Guangzhou, Tianjin and Suzhou.

The Teaching Method

Our teaching methods are at the core of all language instruction and focuses on using language as a tool for communication. Language is presented in the context of real life situations with targeted practice of grammar and vocabulary. Based on over 130 years of ongoing research, this proven method immerses students in the target language and encourages dynamic student participation and maximum speaking time.

Teaching Materials

Tied in with our method of communicative teaching are well developed textbooks and course materials designed to be engaging and relevant. The use of educational technology also helps to support the learning process. Our schools offer one on one classes as well as small group classes of 3 to 6 adult students. This ensures students get the personal attention needed to progress effectively and also helps to create a fun and relaxed learning environment.

Students

Our schools offer a wide range of language learning programs for adult and business English students. Classes focus on relevant language training, communication skills, cultural competency and practical topics based on the needs of the students. Generally students are 24 to 40 year old professionals who either need English to further their careers or are learning as a hobby. All our students are highly motivated and eager to learn.

Requirements

· Bachelor’s degree

· TEFL certificate

· Previous language teaching experience

· Native fluency in the English language

· Professional, culturally aware, positive work ethic

Main Responsibilities

· Maximum 30 hours teaching per week (45 minute classes)

· Up to 10 admin hours per week

· Deliver learner-centered, goal-oriented lessons

· Teach beginner, intermediate and advanced-level students

· Complete all administrative tasks in a timely manner

· Actively participate in professional development workshops and activities

· Attend center activities, parties, open houses and other events

Compensation

· Excellent salary: 14,000 RMB (roughly 2,200 USD) per month (11,500 RMB for probation)

· Annual bonuses awarded based on performance

· Flight allowance: 50% of one way flight ticket from overseas to China (only applies to candidates coming from outside China)

· 23 days annual paid holiday (11 days public holiday + 12 days personal)

· Private health insurance provided

· Free hotel on arrival provided for first week and assistance finding housing
