Teach High School in China With Balboa City School International Program
Working Conditions: Work in a public high school in China with average class sizes of 25 to 30 students. Classes are scheduled between 7:00 am and 8:00pm, Monday through Friday. Some school require teaching on weekends. All students are high school aged students (age 14 to 19). Maximum of 25 teaching hours per week.
Job Description: Teach US accredited courses to Chinese High School students, courses including Introduction to English Literature, World Literature, American Literature, British Literature, Composition, Economics, American Government, and US history. Teachers are expected to utilize standard US curriculum, textbooks and utilize classroom PowerPoint presentations. Teachers are expected to grade and keep detailed grade records for all students. Teachers will also participate in weekly teacher meetings, conference calls with Balboa City School, Chinese High School functions, student activities and extracurricular activities.
Salary: Above average salary 14,000 RMB+ dependent on the candidate's credentials and experience. Salary is paid on a monthly basis on the 15th of month.
Contract Duration: 11 month contract, August 15, 2015 to July 2016. Several March positions available also.
Lots of room for advancement and future contracts.
Accommodations: The local high school provided apartment includes a kitchen, a living space, and a bathroom with a western toilet. They are located on or close to campus and with basic amenities including a microwave or hot plate, refrigerator, bed, wardrobe, and shower.
Flight: You will receive a flight reimbursement of $1500 US at the end of the contract. When you arrive in China you will be picked up by local staff and taken to the school and your apartment.
Health Insurance and Visa: Provided by the school, including legal residence working permit.
Holidays and Vacation: All major Chinese Holidays and 3-4 week paid semester break between fall and Spring Semester. One week paid holiday in October.
Qualifications: In most cases US Citizen is preferred. Teachers with a Bachelor¡¦s degree, Prefer Bachelor¡¦s degree in teaching or related topics to subjects taught: Literature, English, History or related degrees; Prefer TEFL Teaching Certificate and experience teaching nonnative speakers. Positive, upbeat attitude and motivation to help Chinese students successfully prepare for US college education. Documents
1. Your resume with current photos: Detail teaching, tutoring or counseling experience and any experience working with students. Please include two current photos including a headshot and a business casual photo; photos should be clear and current to give prospective schools. This should state your country of birth and native language.
2. Scanned information page of your passport: Make sure that the relevant information (full name, passport number, dates) is clearly legible. You need a current passport that is valid for at least 90 days past the end of your contract (July 2015) or expires after October 2015. If not please explain your plan for renewing your passport and the expected date to receive your new passport.
3. Scanned copy of your college degree(s), TEFL Certifications, etc. Originals of all of these documents will be required to obtain your legal residence and working permit. If you do not currently have the original of your diplomas or certifications, please request them now and provide the dates that they will be available. New Graduates, transcripts are not acceptable for visas, you must have the physical diploma.
4. Two written references: Should be signed copies with current contact information. Please don't give us contact information only - we need actual letters and contact information. Please make sure contact information is correct and up to date. Please inform your references we will contact them.
5. We are looking for native US Citizens for these high school positions. If you are not a native US Citizen or if you don't meet all of the qualifications our partner School (Aston English School) will still consider you. Ask if you want the Aston information.
