The Job

We are currently recruiting new teachers to join our team and are looking for those who can deliver exciting, communicative English lessons and encourage our students to speak English with confidence. Our students are aged from 13 – 16 years old and the focus will be on developing their oral English and pronunciation as well as giving them some insights into Western culture. We are looking for teachers with a genuine desire to work with teenagers and instill in them a passion for the English language.

Teachers make use of our resources and course material to deliver engaging English language classes, designed to encourage communication and the natural use of English. We make use of English activities, games, songs and role plays. Teachers are encouraged to use their creativity and personality to bring the lessons to life. Local teachers assistants accompany teachers in each class to assist with translation and classroom management where needed.

Lianyungang – The City

Lianyuangang is a coastal city located in the north east of China in Jiangsu province. The city was one of the first ports opened for trade back in 1680’s by the Qing Dynasty government. Known as the “City of Fantasy and Romance” from the classical novel Journey to the West, Lianyungang is the hometown of the fictional “Monkey King”.

Lianyuangang has a coast line of 162km so there is ample opportunity to enjoy the beaches during the summer when temperatures can get up to the early 30’s. Nearby mountains and waterfalls, the highest reaching over 100 feet add to the allure of the city and make day trips easy.

Main responsibilities

-20 hours per week are spent teaching

-Lesson planning

-Using program materials to teach English efficiently

-Evaluating student progress and providing ongoing guidance

Compensation Package

-Great salary: 8,000 RMB per month (negotiable for experienced teachers)

-Housing provided free: fully furnished, near the school

-Flight allowance: 5,000 RMB (paid on successful completion of 12 month contract)

-Annual leave: total 32 days: 11 national holidays + 2 months in the summer + 1 month in the winter

-Bonus available after each semester

-Legal ‘Z’ work visa provided

-Airport pickup and hotel provided free

-Initial 1 week training on arrival

-On-going support

Note: Summer and winter holidays are paid at 1,500 RMB / month + free housing. Teachers are allowed to find part time teaching work during these times if they wish

Requirements

-Native English speaker from UK, USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Ireland or South Africa

-Bachelor’s degree

-Teaching experience with young learners preferred

-TEFL certificate preferred

-Open minded, patient, energetic, and culturally sensitive
