The Job

Ningbo Huizhen Academy is inviting energetic and qualified teachers to join their team of well-distinct teachers. This job combines teaching at either our primary or secondary school as well as the opportunity to teach at our private language school, Witts Education. You will have the chance to experience the variety of teaching in a school and a language center.

Ningbo Huizhen Academy was established in 1995. It now has two sites which offer primary and secondary education as well as Witts Education. The school has recently expanded and accommodates over 2,500 students and employs 5 foreign teachers and over 200 local teachers. Since the beginning, the school has adopted a “student-centered” philosophy with the goal to combine the best of Eastern and Western education. With the school’s innovative approach to teaching and learning, it has made great strides in providing high quality education.

Our students in primary school are aged 6-11 years old and 12-18 years old in the secondary school. Local teaching assistance is provided in first and second grade classes. We aim to educate with a tolerant-spirit and an open mind to encourage students to broaden their learning experience. Our goal is to develop students to become social citizens with critical thinking, boldness and desire for excellence.

Courses
Ningbo Huizhen Academy uses lively and interesting course books such as Cambridge English, Fun Fun English and Go For It. Each classroom is equipped with a computer, internet and interactive white boards to assist you in your daily teaching and to provide a more advanced informative learning experience to students.

Ningbo - The City
Ningbo is one of China’s oldest cities but has gone through plenty of changes in recent years. It is an economic center and has become the most developed city in Zhejiang province, just South of Shanghai on the East coast. The city has wonderful natural, cultural landscapes and historical sites to visit. TheTianyi Chamber was built in 1516 and is said to be the oldest surviving library building in China.

The weather in Ningbo is subtropical with humidity and distinctive seasons. Ningbo also has a well-developed and easily accessible transportation system.

Requirements< /strong>

-Bachelor’s degree
-TEFL certificate preferred but not required

-Native English speaker from UK, USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand or South Africa

-Some teaching experience preferred
-Professional, culturally aware, positive work ethic

-Plenty of passion and energy

Main Responsibilities

-Maximum 16 hours teaching per week

-Up to 24 hours of admin work per week

-Total teaching days per year = 206 days. Total rest /leave days per year = 146 days

-Prepare for the curriculum and plan lessons accordingly

-Complete all administrative tasks in a timely manner

-Correct and mark students’ homework and exams

-Organize and conduct extra-curricular activities like drama or mock interviews

-Attend school meeting and participate in professional development activities

-Meet with parents and provide progress reports of students if necessary

-Conduct or participate summer camps/activities or holiday camps in Ningbo or elsewhere

-Accomplish reasonable duties assigned by the principal from time to time

-Classes from Wednesday to Friday from 8:05am to 4:35pm in primary or secondary school

-Classes on Saturdays and Sundays from 8:25am to 3:30 pm in our own private language school

Compensation
-Excellent salary: 8,000 RMB per month
-One-way airfare ticket will be reimbursed upon arrival to Ningbo
-Economy plane ticket will be provided upon completion of the contract
- Free accommodation in foreign teacher block with personal bedroom and bathroom and shared living room and kitchen
-4,000 RMB bonus after completing the 12-month contract
-Accident insurance provided
-Training and support provided – 5 days on arrival and on-going
-Legal ‘Z’ work visa provided

-42 personal days off pre-set by the school, plus 11 days Chinese national holidays
