The Role: EAL Teacher

The successful applicant will have a minimum of 2 years relevant experience of teaching English as an additional language and have the ability to deliver a high quality language experience to our students. Due to expansion we have opportunities in each of the 3 phases of the school; Early Years (Pre-nursery ¨C Reception), Primary (Years 1-6) and Secondary (Year 7-13). Candidates should specify their preferred age range as part of the application process.

We are specifically looking for someone who will:

* Use teaching methods which will engage students through careful planning, effective questioning, good use of resources and a style of delivery that promotes a love of learning;
* Set high expectations for pupils¡¯ behaviour, establishing and maintaining a positive approach to behaviour management through well focused teaching and productive relationships in accordance with the behaviour policy of the school;
* Identify clear teaching objectives, content, structures and sequences of lessons appropriate to the educational needs of the pupils in his/her class;
* Set appropriate, realistic yet challenging expectations for pupils¡¯ learning, building on prior attainment/knowledge;
* Prepare and present informative reports to parents in a professional manner in line with the school¡¯s agreed assessment and monitoring procedures;
* Take responsibility for their own professional development and to keep up to date with research and developments in pedagogy as relevant to their own department and mainstream departments;
* Interact on a professional level with colleagues and seek to establish and maintain productive relationships in order to promote mutual understanding of the school curriculum with the aim of improving the quality of teaching and learning in the school;
* Support the EAL department by contributing to school improvement planning;
* Understand the importance of being a role model for learning within the school and throughout the wider community in line with our core values;
* Develop the extra-curricular games provision for our students;
* An EAL/ESL qualification (CELTA or higher is preferred);
* A working knowledge of the UK national curriculum in chosen age range;
* An understanding of EAL in the mainstream philosophy and practice;

Selection Process

The closing date for application is Friday 20th, January. First stage interviews will be conducted by Skype or telephone with opportunities to attend the Nord Anglia Education Recruitment Event in central London, in the week commencing 19thJanuary 2017, for candidates who would like to learn more about working for a Nord Anglia School.
