If you’re going to be teaching English in China, you might as well be teaching on a tropical island...
Before my work day, I walked down the boardwalk that’s five minutes from my apartment. At the end of the boardwalk is the beach. A couple co-workers were there during their lunch break (they teach DE classes during the day), so we all sat with our feet in the water and drank coconuts while catching some sun.
In the evening, I had classes. Using an iPad and HDTV, I’ve been slowly sharing some old childhood cartoons every couple classes. The kids are really enjoying this segment of class and ask for it way more often than they should. They know it’s time to work though and prove to me that they’re there to learn and that they want to learn.
I go home happy in the knowledge that I’ve made a difference, I had fun doing it, and the company I work for truly appreciates me.
Interested in a similar life? We’re looking for 4 teachers to join us at Happy Town English Training Centre.
Happy Town English runs a progressive curriculum for children aged 6 months to 15 years old. We use new tools, like iPads, to assist students with learning challenges. We’re constantly bouncing ideas of each other to try and improve our teaching methods and everyone is treated with respect. Happy Town is also in a growth spurt and there’s plenty of opportunity for advancement.
We’re looking for 4 teachers that are:
• North American native-English speakers
• Committed to longer contracts (1 year standard)
• Passionate and creative about teaching all ages
• Experienced and qualified (Degree preferred, Tesol preferred)
• Willing to experiment with technology in the classroom (we’ll supply the tech)
As teachers of Happy Town, you’ll receive:
• 7500 RMB per month (after tax) for 24 teaching hours total (1 teaching hour=45 minutes)
• An apartment close to the school (all you pay for is the bills)
• Sponsored Z visa and Foreign Expert Certificate
• Contract completion bonus of 5000 RMB
