Long Term Teaching

Teaching ESL to adults is an extremely rewarding and interesting profession.Teaching English as a Second Language givesyou the chance to meetmany incredible peopleand tolearnabout cultures, expressions, politics, and social structures that are different from yourown.Every class is an opportunity to help and to teach, but it's also an opportunity to learn and to receive.

Our instructorsteach 2 to 3 classes each weekday as well asseveral after class activities scattered throughout the week. We provide everything you need to start living the adventure you've dreamed of: accomodation, affordable meals, visa assistance and more.

Requirements

Things to know
Two types of year-longcontracts are available for long term teachers. The first requires 2 class periods a day and the second requires 3 class periods a dayfrom Monday to Friday. We don't require any office hours, but we expect our teachers to come to every class well prepared. We also ask ourteachers to participate inthe weekly Social Night event.

Short Term Teaching (Summer)

For those looking for a shorter commitment, we have short term teaching positions.Every summerOmeida receives more than 100 young students from public schools around China for summer Englishclasses. So, every year at the beginning of June, we expand our teaching staff by hiring a dozen or more short term teachers from around the world, as well as many Chinese college students to assist the foreign teachers. For the duration of the summer, about 6-8 weeks, short term teachers have class on the same schedule as our long term teachers while utilizing a curriculum set that is aimed toward the younger students, ages 7-17.

Omieda has also run a sucessful summer camp for the past decade at a seperate campus in Yangshuo. Short term teachers are also needed each summer to lead the camp classes and activities. Camp students range from 7-15 years of age and participate in languageactivities and outdoor adventures over a seven day period. Each week new campers arrive for a week of learning, in all lasting6-8 weeks through thesummer.

Because the summer classand summer camp studentsare similar in age, we often allow short term teachers to alternate between teaching summer classes at our home campus and leading camp classes at our alternate campus if desired.
