Overview: Our client, a Canadian certified International HS in China, requires a Teaching Vice Principal to join their team and help deliver Grades 9-12 curriculum as well as complete administrative functions of the school. Successful candidates must certified Canadian teachers, with preference given to those with British Columbia credentials. The Canadian certified International HS is located within an existing Chinese HS and its administration supports the Teaching Vice Principal to the best of their ability in getting any required Chinese documentation. The Canadian Ministry of Education requires all student demographic information and lists of the students registered in both examinable and non-examinable courses.
Location: China - Multiple locations
Number of positions: 3 (three)
Contract Terms: 1-year term beginning September 2012 with an option to renew
Compensation and Benefits:
Approx. $4,000 to $4,500 Canadian per month for the 10 teaching months; based on qualifications
Travel & Medical Allowance
Free Housing (basic)
The opportunity to gain administrative experience within a Canadian certified High School
Candidate Profile and Qualifications:
Canadian Certified K-12 Teacher with a Bachelors Degree
Preferred - Member in good standing with BC Ministry of Education
3+ years’ administrative experience within an educational institution
3+ years’ experience as a High School Teacher in multiple subjects
Native English Proficiency
Previous international work experience, specifically in a school with combined International and Local divisions
Serious teaching professionals who are high energy, motivated, culturally sensitive and have a desire to work in a diverse environment – specifically willing to adapt to working in classroom conditions in rural setting where access to technology or resources may be somewhat limited
Minimum of 3 recent professional references from previous supervisors
Previous experience working with ELLs would be an asset
Duties and Responsibilities:
The Teaching Vice Principal is responsible for both teaching various subjects in grades 9 to 12 and all administrative duties of the Canadian International School.
Teaching is approximately 15 hours per week – various teaching subjects for grades 9 to 12
Administrative duties include those related to the smooth functioning of the school; data transfers to the Canadian Ministry of Education; registering students for Personal Education Numbers; preparation for the yearly inspection by the inspector for offshore schools; and ensuring, all online exams run smoothly. It is estimated that Vice Principal (administrative) duties will comprise half of total hours.
