The Job

Our school is located in Hangzhou, the capital city of Zhejiang province along the southeast coast of China.  It is a full-time vocational and technical higher education university jointly established by the Municipal People’s Government of Hangzhou.

We are now hiring for the position of English language teacher to teach our university students aged from 18 to 22 years old. Candidates must be able to create engaging, varied English classes making use of a communicative approach with a focus on improving students’ oral English, as well as using relevant teaching materials and activities. You will have access to a variety of teaching resources to ensure effective teaching.  Class sizes have less than 25 students per class with each lesson lasting 45 minutes.

The campus is located in the West Lake scenic spot near Xix National Wetland Park in Hangzhou. At present, it has two campuses with 6000 students. It has 5 departments (Applied Engineering, Economics and Commerce, Business Administration, Biotechnology and Liberal education) offering 20 programs.

The city is one of the most livable in China with a natural balance of local Chinese culture and Western amenities providing a dynamic atmosphere of live music, cafes and bars, a variety of events and an eclectic mixture of people from all over the world. Mix a buzzing city with a pleasant year round climate and low cost of living and you see why Hangzhou has earned the reputation it has.

Main Responsibilities
-Maximum teaching hours of 16 hours per week
-Office hours of 2 hours per week
-Monday to Friday classes with evenings and weekends off
-Deliver learner centered, engaging oral English lessons to students
-Ensure equal participation of all students
-Complete all administrative tasks in a timely manner
-Actively participate in professional development workshops and activities

Compensation
-Salary: 7,500 RMB per month
-Free accommodation or monthly allowance of 2,200RMB/month (before tax)
-Flight reimbursement of 6,000RMB (completion of contract)
-Paid holidays: 11 days national holiday + winter vacation off

Requirements
-Native English speaker from UK, USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Ireland or South African
-Bachelor’s degree

-2 years of previous teaching experience preferred
