Gateway Academy is an educational organization in Beijing that fully prepares Chinese students for middle and high school studies abroad. We are currently recruiting for the position below:

Full-time English Teacher

Monthly base salary: 15-18k RMB before tax, depending on the candidate’s experience.

In addition, we also include the following in our compensation package:

- Round-trip economy airfare from home, to be paid upon completion of the contract

- Accident insurance

- 5 vacation days, 5 sick days per year

- A valid working visa

Our center provides a modern and clean working environment, with direct indoor access to Xidan Joy City Shopping Center, a five-minute walk from Line 1 or Line 4 subway lines.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

• Deliver standard English lessons from the U.S. Common Core curriculum.
• Prepare lesson plans and become familiar with the programs and courses of study at the school.
• Correct, record and administer quizzes, tests, assessments and progress reports for students.
• Assist in the conducting of placement tests and enrollment interviews.
• Carry out, on occasion, special academic events including demo lessons and parent meetings.
• Attend training and workshops for professional development.
• Substitute occasionally for absent colleagues.

Job Specifications

• Native English speaker, preferably from North America
• Bachelor degree or above, preferably in education
• Teaching qualification preferred, especially a North American certified Teacher’s License
• At least two years of teaching experience in either ESL or in an English-language day school
• Skillful in classroom management, particularly with younger students ages 4-14 and an average class size of 2
• Possess a good-natured and adaptable personality
• Must be willing to commit to the position for at least a year to ensure a consistent learning experience for students
