The U-Learn Education Group manages 3 of the top IB (International Baccalaureate) schools in Shanghai, China. The IB curriculum – widely used in the EU and private schools across the globe – is quickly gaining popularity in China as a premier alternative to the Chinese national curriculum.
U-Learn also manages the Joint-US High School Program at Suzhou Public School in Suzhou, which is 30 minutes away from Shanghai. In addition, U-Learn provides US college counseling services to all high school program students.

US College Admissions Counselor
Location: U-Learn Headquarters, Shanghai, China
Start Date: ASAP
About the Role:
The College Admissions Counselor reports to the Counseling Lead and is responsible for working with Chinese high school students on a regular basis to administer all aspects of the college search and admissions process, including the following:
• Acting as lead advisor to several high school students each year (approx. 20 students), providing academic and personal counseling.
• Educating students and parents about colleges, the college admissions process, trends, procedures, and testing, especially for US colleges.
• Advising and supporting students and families as they go through the process.
• Helping students and families to aspire realistically and choose wisely.
• Meeting with high school students, individually and in groups, to talk about process and individual college choices.
• Working with high school students to understand US college admissions, especially aspects unique to each school or program and how it relates to an individual student.
• Administering the College Counseling Office budget and purchasing, maintaining, and sharing information on colleges, college guides, scholarships, financial aid, and paying for college.
• Collaborating with the US College Admissions Manager to invite college admissions representatives to U-Learn schools, and meeting with those representatives during their visits.
• Keeping track of admission decisions and statistics, and making reports to the Counseling Team and other superiors.
• Making informational presentations to parents and students.
• Cooperating with coworkers on student workshops and information sessions.
Qualifications (for full-time position):
Necessary skills include excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong organizational ability and the ability to meet deadlines. Experience in college admissions or high school college counseling, teaching experience, and computer skills are plusses.
An ideal candidate is:
• Graduate from a top US college or university with strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills
• Familiar with the goals, objectives, and missions of US educational institutions
• Able to respond effectively to the needs of a diverse and demanding student and parent population
• Knowledgeable in regards to US colleges, their academic programs, and admission policies.
• Experience in the college admissions or counseling field is preferred

ESL Teacher (Primary School)
Location: Shanghai World Foreign Language Primary School (WFLPS), Grades 1-5
Start Date: ASAP
About the Role:
• Manage, create, and deliver lessons for primary school students based on given and/or collaborative-based materials
• Perform the duties of a full-time ESL instructor, including but not limited to maintaining office hours, group planning, curriculum management, and parent meetings
Principal Accountabilities:
• Planning, preparing, and delivering lessons to a range of classes, ages, and English language proficiencies
• Preparing and setting tests, examination papers, and exercises
• Making and providing appropriate feedback on oral and written work
• Devising, writing, and producing new materials, including audio and visual resources, either individually or with teammates/co-teachers where appropriate
• Organizing and being involved in social and cultural activities such as sports competitions, school parties, assemblies, dinners and excursions
• Attending and contributing to training sessions
• Basic administration, such as keeping student registers and attendance records
Requires (Functional/Technical Skills & Knowledge):
• Ability to establish effective working relationships with staff, students, and parents
• Ability to communicate both orally and written while taking into account ESL community members
• Skill to work with a range of students of different abilities and backgrounds
• Capacity to adapt to a range of oral and written classroom and assessment tools based on student levels
Required / Recommended Background & Experience:
• Minimum Bachelors degree
• 1-2 years of teaching experience is preferred
• Valid TEFL/TESOL/CELTA Certification (minimum 120-hours)
• Previous experience with ESL students is preferred
• Recent graduates are also encouraged to apply if they have a valid TEFL/TESOL/CELTA Certification
