Yonsei Elp Full-time Instructor
Yonsei ELP English Education Center is looking for a full-time instructor who is bilingual to fill one position in March 2012. We currently have a faculty of seven native English-speaking teachers. The position starts teaching from 1st of March 2012 with a training from 28th of February.
Yonsei ELP is an English language Education center established under the patronage of Yonsei University Foundation and The Yonsei Wonju English Education Center at Wonju. Our mission is to provide quality English education to the regional community of Wonju, especially to the children, in a nurturing and child-centered learning environment based on the principles of Christian love, service, and sacrifice, which are the founding philosophy of Yonsei University. We want dedicated, caring and sincere teachers to work at our school, those who love teaching and consider teaching as a profession.
Wonju is located near Seoul (one and a half hours by bus from Seoul) and you can easily access the beautiful mountains and the East sea in Kangwon area.
Education/experience requirements for all positions:
1. A native speaker of English with B.A. degree or higher
2. Education (early childhood, primary or secondary major)
or /and TEFL,TESOL certificate or higher
3. Minimum one year of experience teaching children (K – Grade 9) a must,
Teaching experiences with Korean students preferred
4. Preference will be also given to teachers moving within Korea.
5. Bilingual (Korean & English) candidates are preferred
Salary/benefits with an annual contract:
1. A salary of 2.0 – 2.4 million won per month for 26 hours teaching(depending on teaching experience and qualifications).
2. Housing: A furnished one room studio-type for single or Two bedrooms for couple (Housing allowance - 280,000 won per month for single, 350,000Won for couple)
3. Round-trip airfare if recruited from abroad.
4. Medical insurance(If you receive medical care at a Yonsei-affiliated hospital, you will receive additional discount at a special Yonsei faculty/staff rate.)
5. Severance pay
6. Korean Class : 2 hours per week - Maximum 40% of tuition is supported by Yonsei ELP. (* The minimum number of students in total must be 4 to open the Korean class.)
Working conditions:
1. Max. 26 teaching hours (45-50 minutes lesson per class hour) weekly
2. Regular Classes between 2:40 - 9 pm /Monday - Friday,
no Saturdays and Sundays, and no split shifts except for overtime hours
As an exception, if there is an event to do with the Center on Saturday, the instructor
can be called on to work for the event no more than once per term(one term: 12
weeks).
3. Three week paid vacation in addition to all national holidays
(One week in summer, two weeks in winter,)
4. Four-day paid sick leave per contract period ( and a bonus for non- used sick days)
5. Overtime possible (30,000 won per an hour/60minutes)
6. Class size – maximum 8-12 students,
Classrooms are equipped with a computer and a projector
7. Age/level of students – from pre-school (age 4) to K12 ( Primary and secondary)
as well as adult conversation courses
