Ecuador, is located in South America, bordered by Colombia on the north, by Peru on the east and south, and by the Pacific Ocean on the west. Ecuador is a beautiful country with unspoilt coastlines, mountains, volcanoes and of course the Amazon jungle.
Native English teachers are in good demand in Ecuador, the necessary qualifications for teaching in the country are a minimum of a degree and preferable a TEFL/CELTA qualification in addition to this. Jobs are more plentiful in the major cities of Ecuador, these being the capital Quito, along with Guayaquil and Cuenca.
Wages are fairly low, around 400-700 USD per month for around a 20 hour teaching week. The cost of living modestly would be estimated at around 300 USD per month, so there is not too much margin for saving.
