English and Math Teachers Needed 6 or 12 Month Contract Starting January 2014 in Guatemala City, Guatemala

If you are a young enthusiastic teaching professional who is looking to gain valuable experience and further your career, then Oxford Language Center has a great opportunity for you! OLC offers the chance to acquire skills in teaching a variety of students at different levels with an easy and comprehensive curriculum that helps students become immersed in the language in an environment of cultural exchange. We offer small class sizes in a round table setting for a more personal experience. Those looking for a bigger challenge can teach in our Academic Program, which provides training to teach preparation classes for the TOEFL, TOEIC, and ELASH English proficiency exams and positions working with private schools teaching the staff, teachers and students. Teachers can also receive training to first master and then teach preparation classes for university exams such as the SAT, SAT MATH, GMAT, and GRE. Many of our teachers go on to use these skills to get highly paid positions in other markets.

Rich in culture, Guatemala City has a variety of activities and places of interest for those who wish to call this “land of eternal spring” their home. From the historic National Palace and Central Park to the very lively “Zona Viva” with modern cuisine and bars to something a little more local like “comedores” and street food, experience Guatemala’s many different characteristics. During your six month or one year stay, you will also have the chance to take advantage of weekend trips to the old capital of Antigua, rich in history and nightlife or to enjoy the majestic beauty of Lake Atitlan which sits in a mountainous valley about 2 hours west of the city. TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT

1. Position: Full-time English Teacher

2. Contract: 6 month renewable contract

3. 22- 25 teaching hours per week

4. Five and a half day work weeks (Sundays off)

5. Salary: Q4, 500-5,500 per month (USD 550-650)

6. Location: Guatemala City, Guatemala C.A.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

(A) Necessary Requirements

1. Native English speaker

2. Bachelor's degree

3. Positive, flexible, hardworking, self-motivated and disciplined

(B) Preferred Requirements

1. Enjoys teaching a wide range of levels and ages

2. Is able to plan enjoyable, quality lessons for a variety of class types

3. Has experience living overseas for 6 months or more
