We are CVTD, Center for International Cooperation and Vietnam Talent Development, a non government, non- profit volunteer organization operated in Hanoi, Vietnam. We have projects in two areas- community development and education.



Our goal is to create short and long term International Voluntary Projects to assist in long lasting community development and education; to exchange and explore cultures; broaden experiences and improve skills between Vietnamese volunteers and international volunteers.

We are looking for interested volunteers who would like to share their time and talents with the our staff and students. CVTD wishes to foster good relationships with international volunteer in order to establish a greater network of volunteers cooperating together to provide greater assistance to those areas in which humanitarian aid is needed.

OVERVIEW

Kim Chung commune, Dong Anh district, outskirts of Hanoi. The locality is in the process of urbanization, and as a result of the establishment of Thang Long Industrial Park, which leads to mass immigration from nearby rural provinces. Migrant workers accounted for more than half the total number of immigrants in Dong Anh district. Young workers with limited income are living indifficultyconditions. While we all know that children have rights to basic subsistence, education and so on for normal human development, many of the children hereare facingwithdificultyin education as their parentscan notafford to send them to a standard school. Some even do not have money to pay school fees. Hence, these children can not access to the modern world. They lack not only fundamental knowledge but many other living skills, and English seems to be beyond their abilities.

With the purpose to help these disadvantaged children approach to supplementknowledgeand skills needed for their future Center for International Cooperation and Vietnam Talent Development (CVTD), in partnership with Kim Chung Commune People’s Committee (and Kim Chung Primary School), is implementing an educational program in a tranquil pagoda of Kim Chung Commune. Theprogrammeaims at providing the children with basic English lessons and other extra activities including drawing, music and physical activities in leisure time. The children haveclass3 days per week, each class lasts for 2 to 2.5 hours per day.

WHY THE PROGRAM NEEDS YOU

International volunteers can bring the whole world to the community, allow students to gain new experiences and to express their feelings in a multicultural environment. By helping them improve their English, we are giving them an indispensable tool for higher education. No one person can do everything, but we can all do something. We have on going needs for volunteers with different culture backgrounds reflecting a rich diversity of a global community, all are united by their desire to help children.

This is a flexible program encouraging inputs from volunteers. Taking part in our program, volunteers will have opportunity to:
- Prepare the lesson plans including teaching aids, games, and activities… for each class.
- Give lessons and hold extra activities.
- Collaborate with teaching assistant to manage the class.
- Give feedback and recommendation about students’ performance

ACCOMMODATION

Free accommodation. International Volunteer House with a large living room, kitchen, toilet and Internet capabilities. Or homestay with local families if preferred. The Volunteers will have time to experience local food, cultural exchange and travel around through interaction with the host family and local people.
