Jazan Economic City Polytechnic is an exciting project in the south west of Saudi Arabia. The college has been established to provide an education for young Saudis, to prepare them for entry into the workplace in a range of technical areas. The prep. year that we are recruiting for has two semesters, while the technical education is a further four. These last two years are run in partnership with Algonquin College from Ottawa, Canada. The college itself is being developed under the auspices of the Saudi Arabian General Investment Authority http://www.sagia.gov.sa/ and its own website is http://www.jecpt.com/en/Default.aspx.

Qualifications

1 Native English Instructors:

BA/BSc Degree- any field

CELTA or other recognise d TESOL certificate

Minimum Skills:

Experience integrating technology and learning

Minimum of 3 years teaching (preferred 5 years+) ideally within a preparatory or foundation level programme< /span>.

Preferred- Experience in teaching students from the Middle East.

2 Non Native Speaker Instructors:

BA degree- any field (English preferred)

CELTA or DELTA

Minimum 3-4 years EFL experience

IELTS – 7 or above; TOEFL- 650 or above

Skills:

Experience integrating technology and learning

Preferred- Experience in teaching students from the Middle East

Salary and Benefits Package

The salary scale is in the range USD 40,500-44,000 pa and individual salaries will be calculated according to an incremental scale.

Contracts will be for 12 months, renewable. A 90-day probation period at the beginning of employment will be observed.

The employer will provide a furnished apartment per teacher (with their family if they choose to bring family members with them). The housing complex includes a small gym, laundry room and a security guard.

In terms of healthcar e, insurance coverage by a health insurer will be provided by the employer. Medical assistance can be obtained in Jazan or any other city within the Kingdom

Transportation - shuttle buses will transport teachers to and from the college at regular intervals.

Life assurance/death in service benefit – In case of work-related deaths / accidents, expat workers are entitled to occupational hazard benefits from the General Organization of Social Insurance (GOSI) in Saudi Arabia.

The employer will pay for all costs related to legalis ation of the teacher’s stay in the Kingdom such as the issuance of their work visas and residency permits, along with associated medical and travel costs.

Working hours – a 40-hour working week (Saturday to Wednesday) is typically split as follows:

25 hours: teaching

3-5 hours: ‘office hours’ (teachers available to answer any questions from their students)

10 – 12 hours (or more): lesson preparation.

Holiday – Muslim and Christian holidays will be observed. In addition, teachers will get academic holidays in line with the academic terms (typically up to 1.5 calendar months per year). Teachers are expected to be in the college at least one week prior to the start of any term and are expected to remain until they have completed all their duties, including testing and reporting of student results. The long holiday is in the summer from June to August.

Flights – One return flight to the country of origin will be provided once per 12 month year, plus a flight at the beginning and the end of the contract.
