English Language Instructors and Director needed for Komar University of Science and Technology


Position: Full time Instructor of English for Academic Purposes
Location: Sulaimaniyah, Iraq
Start Date: December 1, 2012

Komar University of Science and Technology (KUST) was established and licensed by the Ministry of High Education and Scientific Research in Kurdistan Region Government on October 18, 2009. KUST is a private university governed by a Board of Trustees and run by an Administration Council. It offers an international working environment, with faculty and staff from around the world.

KUST is looking for motivated, energetic and inspiring English Teachers to be part of a newly established English Language Center located on the campus of KUST. The focus of this role will be on teaching English for Academic Purposes as the university uses the English language as its medium of instruction. The first intake of students will begin in December 2012, so this is an opportunity to be a part of something from the startup stages; a chance to be a pioneer.

Minimum Qualifications
University degree in TESOL or Education. If the degree is not related to TESOL or Education then a recognized English teaching qualification such as the CELTA is required. Preferably the candidate will have at least two years of prior teaching experience, ideally in a university setting. If the candidate is a non-native speaker of English then evidence of advanced proficiency may be required (IELTS 8.0 or TOEFL 95).
